If it feels good, do it. I decided a long time ago that no good Conservative should issue a "protest vote" by supporting Libertarians.
Republicans often fall short of what I expect -- but they will get my vote every time.
I am a libertarian conservative, and I do not believe in the doctrine of human perfectability, the innate goodness of man, or antinomian individualism, all of which are beliefs of the left. Rothbard is the hero of those who desire to be "more libertarian than thou".
I'm gratified you read the whole thing carefully.
I decided 26 years ago to be exact, that the socialist left was ruining America, and have voted so ever since.
But from now on I will be voting for more liberty, smaller Govt, lower taxes, less regulation, and less interventionism, versus party, but only IF they are electable. I will not continue blindly supporting or leaving uncriticized a party who blatantly chooses political longevity over keeping the promises we elected them for. To do so is intellectually dishonest.
Unfortunately, neither will I be casting any votes for a Perot that would allow another Clinton to win.
BTW, as it seems you are not aware, the Founders were America's original libertarians. The progressive FDR stacked court's rewrite of our constitution via judicial fiat, versus by the will of the people via amendment, was supported by elites and members of both parties.
After 125 years of their unambiguous understanding, the reversal of the Equal Protection, Genl Welfare and Commerce clauses gave Congress the ability to spend for the first time on things that did not benefit all citizens equally, like a battleship satisfies, but also on farm and business subsidies, welfare, SS, graduated and high taxes, etc., which do not.
Our ability to persue happiness is inversely proportional to the size of Govt. That is why the founders designed it contracturally to be limited and thus committed to the preservation of our pre-existing natural rights, and changeable only by amendment. These founding principles were corrupted by both welfarists and warfarists who sought in envy to emulate the "progress" of the euro-dictators and their central planning that history has proven time and again to be the inferior of liberty.
The Founders NEVER saw Govt as Samaratan, but as a necessary evil to secure our defense with - a Govt beholding to it's people and not to the elites and politicians it now allows into the people's purse.
