Um, for a couple of hours a day, at most? Five days a week? Or maybe they batch the tapings. I have no idea.

Compare just a wig to what other actors go through for monsters, aliens, etc.

From what I understand, all of these "trash" shows are cheap to produce, so the ROI is bigger for that particular time slot.

My retired parents watch Bob Barker every weekday morning. I can't understand the attraction.

Likewise, with these "judge" shows.

And it probably is about the $$$, not the hair.
