So let's sum up. What you are saying is that Pits are:

- Loving, yet Aggressive.
- Calm, yet Intense.
- Sweet, yet Mean.

To the extent that the contradictions are greater in this breed than others, one could characterize the breed as "unpredictable."

It doesn't matter what caused the "unpredictability" of the breed in the first place - this is not a good trait for a house pet.

Temperment is general to breed, but unique to individual dogs.


You can test it. The American Temperament Test Society, Inc. has data for breeds.
