In other developments, a defense attorney for one of players says he knows who made the 911 call the night of the alleged gang rape.

"We're absolutely positive the caller was not the accuser, but the other young lady there," Cheshire said.

Cheshire said witnesses have talked to the woman and a comparison of audio tapes proves the caller was the second dancer at the party, but Durham police say they do not know who called.

I find it strange that Duke canceled the entire lacrosse season. There have been worse rape allegation against football and basketball players but to my knowledge no entire seasons have been canceled.

It's is one thing to suspend those accused of rape. Let the season continue with the other players and walk-ons. Seems President Brodhead has a problem with lacrosse. Maybe he was bullied by the jocks and wants to act in ways he thinks is cool.

Have the reports that the fingernails found at the scene were fake fingernails been verified?

Dante3,

They cancelled the Lacrosse season - an unprecedented action while other team rape allegations, and convictions have occured - because the Media and certain segements of society
demanded, IMO.

The Media firestorm brought pressure to bear on the University. The media views basketball players as individuals, but lacrosse teams as white, male priviledged SECT.

They were, in fact, FAKE fingernails. The media reported it as her fingernails were ripped out. They did not report them as artificial or fake.

They used the first 911 call (slur call) as independent corroboration of the team's wilding on that night. They used it as an independent example of how out-of-control the team was. When a close look at the facts made it highly likely that the call from one of the strippers as they were leaving. Now, we are hearing that this has been confirmed by defense attorneys.

They replayed and replayed that 911 call ad nauseam.

They used the fingernails to show how horrific the crime was. They said repeatedly how she must have been fighting for her life to fight hard enough to have four fingernails ripped out.

I agree. I think google maps and mapquest are operating off the same corrupted database which has fooled Perdogg and me too. Stupid zillow doesn't support my Apple Safari browser. (First poster that starts a Mac vs. PC war gets banned.)

I think that's an east-west alleyway that runs between 610 Buchanan and the house to the south. Urban appears to be further north.

Best I can find, Bissey is described as only a "neighbor". He must be in the house to the south which goes deep enough to have an overview of the back yard of 610 Buchannan plus the alleyway between them. This would give him the perfect opportunity to see the activity that night.

When Tawana Mangum was booked in 2002, she tipped the scales at 152 and was only 5'4" tall. That makes here a bit of a chunky trunk, wouldn't you say?

LOL ...... yes........ and, I am a white guy.

A buck would be enough, in my opinion, for a tip.............. ;-)

An old (white college) friend used to tell me about sex.......... "You can't do precision work with a sledge hammer."

I agree, but apparently, the lame-*ss Duke administration goons felt that these particular players had really "lacrossed the line".

Any word yet from Rev. Jesse Jackson or ACLU regarding the outrage that the team has failed to recruit minority players or illegal aliens?

Th University President and the DA are the ones who should be paying restitution. They are the ones who are in positions of authority, and amplified this case.

As a practical matter they had to cancel the season. They would have been unable to play because the usual bunch of suspects would have shown up and wrecked the game with protests. Even if the players are cleared they're going to have difficulty playing in the future for the same reason. The coach was getting threatening phone calls and had no team to coach so I'm not surprised he left. Stinks, but there it is.

p.s. I want to post a picture - how do I do that?

If you have on-line access to the N&O as a subscriber then look at the archives for 24 June 2002 using the search keyword "taxi". It's copyrighted and so short that so I can't put it on here without violating the "fair use" provision.

I tell you what, if it was me, I'd take Nancy Grace and other those other POS to court. Nancy Grace said - during turblent times when people were being threatened and Duke Student beat up at a local fast-food place (they were calling him a rapist as they beat him up) - that, if that were her Daughter, she'd burn that place down, TONIGHT.

Somebody from the MSM would be answering some questions under oath.

Thanks. Actually just go here

http://www.newsobserver.com/1185/story/427038.html

and then click on the "More Photos" button for another picture of the house. Notice how they carefully framed in a bare-legged woman running? "Run fast honey the Duke lax players are gonna' get cha'."

This photo was on the front page of today's N&O and was taken basically from the same perspective as the one we discussed before.
