I remember a little in the local press at the time about the stripper who tried to run down the cops. I recall thinking what a joke it was that she got off with a slap on the wrist. I searched the Durham Herald Sun and the Raleigh News and Observer for that time frame and couldn't find anything. I wonder if those articles have been recently removed.
I have absolutely no sympathy for the Lacrosse team. You have some sort of unusual interest in this case.
You could be correct. my point is with all the potential of booze, two whores who willingly attended (guess why), all the money, all the immaturity, the mixture of drugs, well who the heck is ever going to really know what happened?
We have a highly paid jackass of a prosecutor who is using the law to further his own ends. Maybe it would be good for someone to have a serious private talk with that prosecutor and introduce him to the concept of justice.
You have NO Sympathy? Our system is INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILITY! There are no even charges and these players have been convicted. You've heard one side of the story from media day after day and you've made up your mind.
If these allegations are false (and there are tons of holes in the story), these boys (some teenagers) have had all their names, pictures, and criminal charges (not convictions) printed in all the papers and displayed on the TV.
So, you'll have no sympathy if the allegations do prove to be false?
.
No, I'm not on the team. I have spent a lot of time on campus including the last 2 weeks. I have many friends at Duke (none on the team), but I know guys that hang out with the lacrosse team. I have NEVER. I'm a little older than those guys.
.
You play with fire you get burned...that is a lesson one learns early in life, or supposedly. These lacrosse players played with fire. You'd think they might have a bit more common sense, but obviously they dont.
They get no sympathy from me.
This wil never be resolved in the court of public opinion. Even if/when, the DNA evidence clears the team of the charges-the new spin will be that the affluent white boys bought their way out.
Regardless of my personal opinion.. Does anyone think that that's not her Criminal Record? Of course, it is and I can't be blamed for her bad, in fact, criminal choices.
So, it will NOT help her or anyone else in court to have the type of record she has. She stole the car from a guy she was manipulating with Lap Dances.
The players said (before her record came out) that the uproar at the party (and the cause of the weird e-mail) was that the strippers tried to steal their $800.00
Plus, the woman lies. She told the News and Observer and a local Radio guy that she was new to stripping and she was real nervous and didn't want to go in. In fact, she said she had never stripped for a group before.
Well, it turns out Crystal Mangum has been stripping for over 5 years and strip clubs all over Durham and at private parties. Her conviction from her Larceny and attempt to run over a Cop was in 2002 and it clear says that she was lap dancing and stole the customer's car.
Either the woman didn't think it would be a big deal or she's really not smart at all and I'm being kind. In Durham , if someone gets a leaflet that says "You People" they have marches and it leads the nightly news. The City council meets on it, etc.
So, she should've know but the players have contended she showed drunk or high and then in the 911 call she's reported as intoxicated woman.
.
I'm being honest,, I could've come on her and said I'm totally impartial. I'm a Duke supporter, but I don't support rape. I believe them because the story has too many inconsistencies.
Fair enough. You Yankees are entitled to your opinion.
If they found four of her fingernails in the bathroom, why all this dickering? It's case closed once they get a DNA sample and identify who she was clawing at.
Interesting hits on google.
And are YOU going to post an apology if DNA does come back, someone is charged and they are found guilty?
I have her name spelled CHRISTAL and she is white. DOB 12-19-1980.
So basically if this is a false rape charge you are willing to "blame the victim", that is to say, the Duke lax players because they "brought it on themselves"? I thought we got over that kind of thinking with true victims of rape. Talk about your double standards.
We'll look at the Glen Ridge case and you look at Tawana Brawley.
