I don't know if it was an advantage or a disadvantage to have the off-season break. On one hand, He gets a chance to take a break and get away from the pressure of the streak. He ONLY has to come back and get a twenty game streak going.

On the other hand, he had to get back into mid-season form again.

I did not know that thing about DiMaggio and all the pitchers. Pretty amazing.

To me the most remarkable thing about DiMaggio's hitting streak and Williams batting .406 was that they both occurred in the same season.
