It's probably a good idea to go to Disk Utility and repair permissions after installing 10.4.6.
I wanted to run Alsoft Disk warrior to put my directory in good order after installation but the computer refused to boot from the Alsoft CD until I fixed the permissions.

There is also a warning about completing all your "synching" with your Macs *before* updating on this one. Apple says to complete it *all* -- first -- and then do the update.
Since I'm not with *all* my machines at the present time (but will be in another week) -- I've held off this update, until I finishe the complete "sync" with all my Macs.
It's a good warning for any others out there.

I have a 20in iMac G5 that had gotten the directory completely screwed up (the HD wouldn't even show up when trying to use Disk Utility) due to a 2 year old (unbeknownst to me) constantly switching off the power strip while his brothers were using the computer. I ran Disk Warrior (it took about 22 hours) and then Disk Utility before doing an archive and install and it's all working again beautifully.
