Baseball is back. Hope springs anew. The rivalries, the history, the scandals, the hype.
Tonight features two good teams that are great to watch and will be there at the end.
Welcome back.....
the "Damon's Disciples" girls in the bleachers... LOL. I guess they have no choice but to move on to Yankee Stadium.
I missed watching a good game by the Schill. Was listening on the radio and sounded like it was a good pitching dual with Millwood early.
I do hope that Torre brings in Embree to try to get Ortiz out but he's too smart a manager to do that.
I didn't really follow the Sea Dogs at all until the Sox picked them up as an affliate. It's a pretty nice set up they have with their AAA and AA clubs within easy driving distance from Boston.
And folks thought 1918 was a long time ago. Try 1908.
It'll be a complete day if Zito can shut down the Yanks tonight.
Embree signed a minor league contract with the San Diego Padres. As far as I know he did not make the major league squad.
I thought he wasn't with the Yankees anymore. Man did he lose it fast.
>>Is WEEI still the flagship station for the Red Sox radio network?
It is till the end of this year (and the Prov. affiliate
has been changed from WPRO to WEEI-FM 103.7). But it's up to the Sox to now decide whom will carry them next year. Rumor
has it they'd like an _FM_ station--better sound quality
(and FM signals can do well, despite the occasional fadeouts due to line-of-sight problems). Sox may even buy their
own station or set up an arrangement with an existing
broadcaster.
Likely homes for Red Sox Radio?
--WEEI 850 or sister stations WMKK 93.7, WAAF 107.3
(Entercom)
--WBOS 92.9 (Greater Media)
--WTKK 96.9 (Greater Media)
--WKLB 99.5 (Greater Media, though may be sold off
with GM's acquisition of classical WCRB)
--WCRB (for now) 102.5, soon to be Greater Media
--WBCN 104.1 (CBS, current flagship of Pats)
--WBZ 1030 (CBS, current flagship of Bruins)
etc (maybe even "ESPN 890/1400" but they have signal
problems)
We'll find out eventually! But for now it's still WEEI Red
Sox network
Very interesting info, raccoonradio... you really know your radio stuff! Thanks... :o)
Interesting... I didn't know that. Bellhorn is out of the majors also, isn't he? Embree and Bellhorn went downhill fast since the 2004 season...
you're welcome--I've been a college radio DJ for 25 years (north of Boston) and always check out radio messageboards/
sites online; the Boston papers' radio columns, etc.! A
radio fan.
Mirabelli's splitting time with Piazza for the Padres behind the plate; he hit 5 hr in ST.
And of course Dave Roberts is playing left field for them.
Dave Roberts will never have to pay for a meal in New England for the rest of his life because of one stolen base.
Bellhorn also made the team as the backup 2nd baseman; he hit 4 hr during Spring Training but struck out in his only at-bat Opening Day.
I wish I had a dollar for every time I've ever seen Bellhorn strike out... ;-)
Yup! :o)
I know exhibition baseball doesn't mean much, but I am tremendously encouraged by the Tribe's preseason record...what was it, 20-12 or something like that?
I'm going to miss Coco Crisp and I still miss Jody Gerut, but this squad has some serious potential!
No need to mention that other sport until September. ;O)
