Not so sure, they'll score a lot of runs, other than by hitting dingers. They're horrible with runners in scoring position.

Let's see how he does without Mirabelli.

Yeah, that'll be interesting. Mirabelli said it took him forever to learn to catch Wakefield's knuckleball...

NICE catch, Coco! A 'web gem' for sure.

Foulke is looking at a long year this year. I saw nothing special from him today, no control, not a lot of movement, no velocity and no real spread on the speeds.

The Sox owe him a lot of cash this year and if they actually play him enough they are stuck with him next year.

Hansen looked great in spring training but he's supposedly back in AA ball to work 3 inning shifts to learn a change up. If he can do that then the Sox might have him become a starter. Imagine a rotation of Beckett, Papelbon, Lester and Hansen with Old Man Schilling there to school them? That foursome would own the AL East for years.

The one good thing about a catcher having a tough time catching him is that it means the hitters are also having a tough day.

I liked what I saw today. High pitch counts, good range by Crisp, hits from the SS and 3rd Base side, good relief from Papelbon and great starting pitching. I say it was great because Schilling was getting nothing from the ump today. ESPN has a gamecast feature that shows the zone, where the pitch crosses (or doesn't) and what the ump called it. The ump was calling balls on stuff that broke the strike box.

If the ump was willing to call the corner pitches strikes he might have gone the full 9 innings.

What, running to 1B on strike 3 or advancing on wild pitches?

Yup. Without much zip on his fastball it makes his change up pretty useless.

I'm going to make it down to more Sea Dogs game this year just to see Hansen before he gets called up. I think the Sox envision him as their closer of the future.

Well hopefully whoever it is can at least keep the ball in front of them. Even as much a Mirabelli caught him he would struggle when Wakefield's pitches were really fluttering.

Exactly- new ball club! That's what I hate about professional sports these days...ESPECIALLY men like Damon. I'm STILL feeling that one...

The NERVE.

I know... I'm still really ticked off that Damon went to over to The Dark Side (the Yankees). And it pains me to see "good guy" Mike Myers in pinstripes as well. The Yanks can keep Alan Embree, if he's even still with the Yanks... I don't mind! ;-D

But I agree with GraniteStateConservative... Coco Crisp will most likely make us soon forget Damon. Although that won't do much to help the "Damon's Disciples" girls in the bleachers... LOL. I guess they have no choice but to move on to Yankee Stadium.

Interesting... thanks for that detailed info. I wasn't able to watch the entire game today... I missed several innings, and heard some of the game just on the radio.

Hey... we have our first Red Sox outing this weekend... Sox vs Orioles at Camden Yards (Saturday, 4:35pm, Sunday, 1:35pm). We may have more Orioles tickets than Red Sox this year... I'll have to check our "stash". We have some Yankees vs Orioles games also (we'll be rooting for the Orioles of course, and booing/spilling beer on Johnny Damon).

My husband encountered some "glitch" on the Red Sox site this year when buying tickets. So unfortunately, we won't be going to as many games at Fenway as usual this season, unless we pay big bucks on eBay, StubHub, etc.

My husband and I had a great time last year at Hadlock Field - we drove up for a couple of games one weekend. Love the mini Green Monster! (And the "trash monster", of course! LOL) Hope we can make it up for a game or two again this season. We also go to a few PawSox games at McCoy Field in Pawtucket, RI. It's pretty interesting to follow the Red Sox from AA on up...

The AA team in our area are The New Britain Rock Cats (Minnesota Twins). We usually go to a game or two each season, but I can't honestly say I follow the players as closely since they're not affiliated with the Red Sox...

Actually, most of the New Britain Rock Cats games we went to last year were when the Sea Dogs were in town!
