Family-friendly or fudge-friendly ?
Wal-Mart used to be family friendly when Sam Walton was alive. The kids have sold out to diversity and tolerance pressure. Daddy would be very disappointed in them.
(I'm asking, this isn't rhetorical.)
I went in to the Wal-Mart in Geneva, Alabama yesterday and noticed the exact same thing. It struck me as an extremely bad business decision as this is one of the most socially conservative areas of the world. Guaranteed to not please a lot of people.
You have strong libertarian leanings, but you're whining about a friggin movie on sale at Wal-Mart?
Walmart carded me for buying glue. They were caving to public pressure over supposed kids who like to "sniff".
I love the store, but now I won't buy anything that they card for, like glue and DVDs.
"Made in China" is one thing, but I don't want to feel like I am actually shopping there.
Well, it's rated R, if you have problem with them selling rated R movies, well, The Passion of the Christ was sold there also and it's rated R.
And no, I'm not comparing The Passion to Brokeback Mountain.
I would expect them to sell it otherwise they are no better than the cowardly bookstore refusing to sell a magazine for being afraid of muslims.
I have no intention of buying it and I don't give a rip who does buy it, it ain't my money being wasted.
Wal-Mart has changed...a bunch.
Unbelievable!
Our small Wal-Mart would not carry Stolen Valor or Unfit for Command so if Brokeback is there I'll be very vocal. I won't be happy and neither will they if they have that movie. This is a small town with over 30 churches and one tavern, so they wouldn't want me outside with a sign!
Um, they sell "Basic Instinct", "Eyes Wide Shut", "9 1/2 Weeks", etc. All are movies based on "perversions" of one kind or another. My guess is they also sell "Se7en" (stupid spelling for a movie pronounced "Seven" based on the 7 deadly sins - very graphic movie), and other violent, graphic horror movies. How are any of these examples different from "Brokeback Mountain" in terms of family values? They aren't. It's just that BBM was about gay men and that's considered unacceptable. But murder and female nudity, well, that's okay I guess. /s
Personally, I would never buy any music from WalMart because I don't want someone else censoring my music. But that's my choice as an American adult. Buying for kids is a whole different matter.
I'm not surprised.
I'd also not be surprised that they purchased low inventory levels for this one.
I cant imagine it would sell much.
Besides, there are "Wal Mart Queens" in places like Oklahoma who would love to pick up BBM.

OMG people ... don't you have better things to worry about?
