It seems like you and I only exchange chats about once a month. Too bad more teen freepers didn't join up for this thread and you're stuck with moi instead. lol.

So how has your life been? Mine is not going too well, seeing as my boss cut back my hours so I have to find a new job and I'd really like to get my master's degree but I simply don't have enough money saved. And of course life is going to be really suck in January when the DemocRATs have total control of all the national, state, AND local offices here. They even took over some district in North Carolina, I believe.

We had a fun Halloween promo where kids got their portraits taken in their Halloween costumes for $5.00. My boss told me I couldn't show up for work in a costume unless I dressed as McGruff the Crime Dog (it was a "Say No to Drugs" sorta thing) but then the photographer showed up as Bozo so I just knew I should have went in costume anyway. I was going to be the Phantom of the Opera. Last year I wanted to go as Darth Vader, but a GOOD REALISTIC Vader Halloween costume costs like $400.

I guess Thanksgiving might be better, as I get to make the stuffing every year.

I see your Dragon blog site is gone. That sucks, what happened? You been busy with H.S. or something? It was a kewl site. I don't suppose your mom will let you post your pic online yet. That's kinda gay but oh well, parents will be parents. I guess you got your siblings to keep you company.

My sister moved in with her "boyfriend" and bought a house without marrying him so my mom is pissed. But my sister is still a good Catholic girl who goes to our church every week and she voted for all the Republicans I told her to so it's not like she's a "rebel"

BTW, how old are you and what month is your B-day? I forgot again.

Talk later... hopefully won't be another month before I remember to check in.

Disregard the last post where I ask when your b-day is, I noticed that only four posts earlier you said it was in late March. Grrrr... I'm a dumbass. I still forgot your age though.

BTW, you guys having fun in North Carolina and finally found a state to settle down or you thinking of moving elsewhere again?

I had no idea this thread was here until now.

Anyway, it is heartening to know that there are at least some other young people on FR. I am a 16 year old high school junior in Sacramento.

It can sometimes be very lonely as a teen interested in politics. That's not to say I'm a loner or something, but it is sometimes frustrating when few people your age share your interests. Although I did find a couple of like-minded teens in the area in the last year.

Perhaps we can liven this thread up.

The RATs have alot of the NC districts now. It really sucks.

My life, however, is ok. I'm working on a new website. The problem seems to be with the server, not with my site. Something wierd's going on. Hopefully it'll fix up soon.
In other news, I've taken driver's ed and am now going to get my permit from the state of NC.

Next year my mom says we're all going to be gou'ould (from Stargate) for Halloween. I get to be Athena. w00t.
I did want to be a punk/goth rocker this year, but it was vetoed by the parents.

I really need a new pic, everything else I've got is a year old. First I need a haircut, though.
I'm gonna put purple streaks in my hair, just for the amusement value.

I'm 15. Yep.

Hi there! I'm Anoreth (duh). I'm a sophomore in high school.

Nice to meet you. There's a few of us hanging around here. I tried to get some of my other buddies to show up, but they didn't.

Halloween was vetoed. And don't let me find any more candy wrappers in the laundry, or next year will be vetoed, too.

You can't get purple streaks until after your grandparents visit.

I don't know what your website is about, but you should really consider starting a political blog if you don't already have one. Starting mine at the beginning of last year was probably the best decision I ever made. It led to friendships with talk radio hosts, chances to meet political leaders, an internship with one of California's most prestigious political consultants, a freelance writing gig with a local conservative newspaper, and even a close new friend who wouldn't have ever known I existed if it were not for seeing my site.

So if you have any interest in politics (you must if you are here, unless your mom is making you :)) you should consider it.

Yeah, this thread was pretty dead for a while. Anoreth and I have been keeping it going but I'm in my 20s so I'm glad someone else showed up. It's true that you can't find many people into politics that are H.S. age. I know people now, but I didn't at the time I was in school. College is different, there are alot of political people, but unfortunately at 90% of the colleges in this country, you'll find the "politically active" people on campus are liberal nuts.

Anoreth is a pretty awesome conserative chick, I hope she gets a new site soon.

The political scene is worse here. The DemocRATs now control every statewide office. The DemocRATs already control every countywide office. The DemocRATs control both houses of the legislature. The DemocRATs control the courts. In 2006, running with an "R" next to your name basically meant putting the words "defeat me" on the ballot. And this used to be a heavily Republican state when I was born! It's like a one party communist state now. Heil Dems!

It's gotten so bad the Dems ran an unqualified candidate for county board President who's an Steve Urkel look-a-like (I swear! Check it out: http://www.votestroger.com/Images/toddorurkel.gif ). He had NO experience with county government and the ONLY reason he got nominated was his daddy used to the county board President. All the Dems who opposed him in the primary refused to support him in the general election. All the papers here, even the liberal ones, endorsed the Republican. And the Urkel look-a-like STILL managed to get 55% of the vote! Depressing.

Well I hope your mom lets you put purple streaks in your hair after grandma and grandpa visit. Just because you're politically conservative doesn't mean you need to dress conservative. ;-)

It's almost as bad here in CA. The only R's elected statewide were Arnold, who has been in a love affair with the Democratic legislature the past year, and an Insurance Commissioner who gave money to Al Gore, so it is kind of hard to call either a Republican.

And perhaps worst of all, our conservative icon, Tom McClintock, lost as well as longtime conservative state Senator Chuck Poochigian. Both great losses to the conservative cause.

So you guys got any plans for Christmas? Anything particular you're hoping to get?

Over here, my brother convinced me to stay up all nite and we camped out in my car in front of circuit city four hours before it opened. They said they would have 50 Nintendo Wii's in stock on Sunday and it was a first come, first serve basis. About 7 a.m., they said everyone had to form a line and would not be allowed to leave and have someone else "hold" your spot, which really made everyone groan because it was freezing out. After a while, I couldn't feel my toes!

Anyway, about 15 mins. before the store opened, they gave out vouchers to the first 50 people in line. We were number #6. I feel sorry for the 51st guy in line. The crazy thing is they gave accidentally gave us two cuz they didn't realize I was with my bro, so I later scalped the 2nd voucher in the parking lot for $20. My sister says I should have gathered everyone around who wanted a wii and had an impromptu audition to give the voucher to the highest bidder. Oh well.

You should have seen the line. Someone commented that we looked like one of the 1930s depression era bread lines! I feel like those star wars nerds who lived at the movie theater for days so they could see the premier. Some lady in line commented that she read about the Playstation 3 fans standing in line last week but never though she'd end up in the same situation. (Incidentally, Cicuit City did NOT have any PS3's, as that system has about half as many units available as the Wii! Poor PS3 fans!)

So now we have Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. It came bundled with Wii Sports but I don't think we'll get Zelda until Christmas. I paid for Wii but I'm not paying for Zelda. Did you see the Colbert Report where he made an avatar of himself and one of Nancy Pelosi and then knocked her out in the boxing game? I made my own little Nancy "Mii" so I'll have to try that. We're such nerds.

You should see this little system, it will play just about any Nintendo game ever made, and it has Internet access including a shop channel. Crazy!

Oh, and if you guys want to see an interesting thread about a topic that affects teens (and people under 30 in general) alot, check out my debates on this thread:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1743166/posts?q=1&&page=101

I consider myself to be a pretty devout Catholic and I absolutely oppose abortion, but I disagree with other conservatives who think all birth control methods are evil and the only solution is everyone who doesn't want kids remain "abstinent" until they do. I mean it's probably a good idea to abstain throughout H.S. but the average age that people get married these days are 25 for women and 27 for guys, and we're supposed to believe it's a realistic goal to get them ALL to "abstain" in order to prevent pregnancy? C'mon.

I mentioned this topic to Anoreth before, what are your thoughts ANVevis?

I don't believe in science classes for "intelligent design" in public schools either, which makes me part ways from alot of conservatives here.

I can't think of anything I really want for Christmas. To tell you the truth, I pretty much have everything I really want. Plus, I'm not really a beggar.

This really frustrates my family as they worry about buying something I like, but I always tell them that if I'm not hoping to get anything, I can't be disappointed :)

On the abstinence issue, my personal goal is to remain abstinent until marriage. But I can see where it would be moral to have it before. The biggest issue is far as I'm concerned is whether you are committed to the person. Whether or not you are legally married doesn't mean as much to me as the commitment.

Wow, it's certainly taken me a long time to respond. Been so busy around here lately. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.

Good point about the committment issue on that one. I totally agree with you.

Anoreth's been pretty quiet lately. Where ya been, kick ass conservative chick? Did you get a chance to dye your hair purple yet?

I hope you guys had a rockin' Christmas and new years. We got a Wii for Christmas, and we had lime punch & a subway platter for new years.

Here's to 2007. Too bad the DemocRATs are in charge now.

Yo Anoreth, where ya been girl? It's gotten lonely on this thread without ya, and you haven't posted since November. The rest of us are still here. You been busy since Christmas break? I hope your mom didn't ban your Internet privileges. :-/

Did ya get your purple hair dye yet? Inquiring minds want to know.

Hi!

I guess it's been a while. I got busy with a bunch of stuff. Plus the Internet was being incredibly slow.

Well, we got a new cat. I didn't get hair dye yet. I may do red instead of purple. I'm studying the Crusades and wading though Geometry.

Otherwise, not much else is new.

Yeah that's cool, you're still on FR, eh? You need to update your profile, it goes to a bunch of dead links now.

I HATE geometry, I have a new job at a furniture store that requires me to compute the ratio of doors for customers... grr.. I though I would never have to do math again. I suppose it's for the best though, cuz I'm probably heading back to college this fall to certified to teach arts.

Are you still into roleplaying games online? Write back time

Catch ya later.

Yea, I'm still roleplaying. I'm on a fairly active site right now, although it died for a short time last month.

Geometry's not too bad. Kinda boring.

I'm still looking at colleges, but the ones I like are all very expensive. I may join the Air Force before I do college, so someone'll pay the tuition.
Right now I'm looking at Franciscan University of Stuebenville, Mary Magdalene (I'm thinking about apologetics and theology, or maybe history, for my major), and Belmont Abbey, which is nearby to where I live.

Yeah I have a similar problem when I'm looking at college's for a master's degree, all the places that sound cool and offer what I want are too expensive. Ideally I'd like to go to Notre Dame. I got my B.A. from Columbia and I'm still paying back thousands of $$$ in debt even though I won a scholarship.

However, I do have a new job and a new g/f now, so thinks are looking up. ;-) I liked taking history in college because I got to substitute a class on State & Local History in place of American History II. You can only read about the war of 1812 so many times before it gets boring. Theology sounds cool. I was not as a Christian university, so the closest I got to a religious course was "Learning The Bible as Literature"

So how are things with the siblings? My family will all be here for easter. You guys got big plans for Easter? You already have a ton of kids at home to keep you company. Talk to ya later. :-)
