My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and me...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

White wing, white wing, Lily of the air, What word dost bring, On whose errand fare?
Red word, red word, Snowy plumes abhor. I, Christ's own bird, Do the work of war.

Thank you, oh Feathered One, for the compliment on the poem. It is one of my favorites.
Spring Carol
by Robert Louis Stevenson
WHEN loud by landside streamlets gush,
And clear in the greenwood quires the thrush,
With sun on the meadows
And songs in the shadows
Comes again to me
The gift of the tongues of the lea,
The gift of the tongues of meadows.
Straightway my olden heart returns
And dances with the dancing burns;
It sings with the sparrows;
To the rain and the (grimy) barrows
Sings my heart aloud -
To the silver-bellied cloud,
To the silver rainy arrows.
It bears the song of the skylark down,
And it hears the singing of the town;
And youth on the highways
And lovers in byways
Follows and sees:
And hearkens the song of the leas
And sings the songs of the highways.
So when the earth is alive with gods,
And the lusty ploughman breaks the sod,
And the grass sings in the meadows,
And the flowers smile in the shadows,
Sits my heart at ease,
Hearing the song of the leas,
Singing the songs of the meadows.

Good morning, Lady!
Wonderful poem for a gorgeous Spring day.
In the meadows the birds play
swaying on old reeds this new day
at evening tide the peepers sing
heralding to our world it's Spring!

Robert Lewis Stevenson, my uncle introduced me to him. I was 10 years old.

You must know something about him. I've been trying to remember a couple fascinating stories about RLS, but they elude me at the moment. Got anything to add?

Afraid I am in the same boat as you regarding any stories about RLS. Uncle bought me the book A Child's Garden of Verses.

Spring Rain
by Sara Teasdale
I thought I had forgotten,
But it all came back again
To-night with the first spring thunder
In a rush of rain.
I remembered a darkened doorway
Where we stood while the storm swept by,
Thunder gripping the earth
And lightning scrawled on the sky.
The passing motor busses swayed,
For the street was a river of rain,
Lashed into little golden waves
In the lamp light's stain.
With the wild spring rain and thunder
My heart was wild and gay;
Your eyes said more to me that night
Than your lips would ever say. . . .
I thought I had forgotten,
But it all came back again
To-night with the first spring thunder
In a rush of rain.

I haven't read enough of Sara Teasdale. Whatever I've read of hers, I've liked a lot, though.
