We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good morning!!
Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
Last Friday, this space wrote about the problem of illegal immigration and that something should be done about it.
Over the weekend, a demonstration of at least 500,000 strong turned out in Los Angeles to protest against making illegal immigration a felony (it isn't???) and against building a wall along the southern border.
We'll make this quick. Congress, you must be doing the right thing since the body politic seems to believe it will cut down on illegals crossing the border. How so? Why would these folks be upset if the measures were a paper tiger?
Press on!
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
You sly fox.
A very good article and (shock!) out of the Minneapolis Star-Trib: (Powerline blog source)
"The Biggest Thing Happening In the World"
The Minneapolis Star Tribune has an excellent profile of federal prosecutor Cliff Wardlaw, who spent 11 months in Iraq, helping to establish that country's judiciary after the overthrow of Saddam Hussein. He hasn't put the experience behind him:
He trained judges, checked courthouse security, examined prison conditions and worked to steer the Iraqi judiciary to an independent body, one separate from the country's political leadership.
Since his return, his life has been suffused with the memories. And he is driven by the desire to go back.
Wardlaw saw first-hand the horrors of the Baathist regime:
He made friends with an eloquent and educated Iraqi judge who had puzzling dark brown scars across his face. The scars, Wardlaw learned, came from acid, dripped onto the man's skin as punishment for refusing to issue death warrants during Saddam's regime.
The most able and energetic Iraqi judge he worked with was murdered in an ambush.
Notwithstanding the danger and discomfort he experienced in Iraq, Wardlaw yearns to return:
He felt proud to be helping. And lucky to be witnessing history. Everything he has done since, he said, has seemed mundane. Less significant.
Inside the white walls of his Minneapolis office, his eyes widen when he talks about it: "This is the biggest thing happening in the world." ***
"I have all my stuff packed," he says. "Someone could call me, and in an hour I could go home and be ready to go."
Thanks for that story, prairriebreeze! Good stories about the troops are so rare that I cherish each one that manages to get printed.
I'm checking out for the night.
See you tomorrow
Good night!
I know exactly what you mean.
I had fun on the Red Hat outing...except I felt a little ridiculous in the required clothing. Guess I just don't have a need to attract attention that way. It was a fun group though. Maybe I can get some toned down stuff, jewelry etc. for future outings.
The town that we toured had several murals that a local artist had painted. On the largest contained images that depicted the history of the place such as Robert E. Lee, who as a colonel came to the fort that was at the town to see to a couple of court martials.
One of the images was of General Sanchez. The tour guide made sure to point out the General's picture on the mural and inform attendees that Sanchez was the "one who captured Saddam Hussein".
:^)
They place the blame on excessive amounts of rain! OH PA-LEEZE!!!! this is Oregon - what constitutes "excessive" :-)
I sure wish Guenie was on it...8^(
5.56mm
Yep, we can get a man on the moon but by golly, that pesky rain still messes up our phones! LOL!
How are you feeling today? Is your UTI under control?
Hi lysie, take care of that shoulder.
Granny, you're right about Home Ec.
Dog, you dog you, making a poor girl take pity on you.lol
I'm off to prop my hip. Till tomorrow. I spent a good part of the day working in the yard, and I can feel it now.
We had a screen name "evening_jemian" this morning - one post and he/she was gone.
I thought it was evening_jasmine.
Much better, thanks.
Did you see the World Figure Skating championships? I must of blinked and missed them on ESPN Saturday afternoon. Kimmie Meissner won the gold, Sasha Cohen fell to third. I just don't think it is in the cards for Sasha Cohen, too bad.
Oh...you're right
Sasha didn't do well in her short program;I missed her long program but she must've had problems there too.
Belbin & Agosto won the bronze.:)
98 bottles of beer on the wall - 98 bottles of beer [singing]
Weird.
Are you bored?
