THE nephew of a Calabrian mafia boss shot his sister for "dishonouring" the family by having a baby out of wedlock, Italian police said yesterday.
Bruna Morabito, 32, lay near-dead in a Sicilian hospital last night after her younger brother shot her four times in the face, 12 days after she gave birth.
Giovanni "Ringo" Morabito, 24, turned himself in to police in his hometown of Reggio Calabria, thinking he had killed her.
"I killed my sister because she muddied the honour of our family," he told police, La Repubblica newspaper reported.
"She was separated from her husband and had a baby with another man."
He had waited until after the birth of his sister's baby -- his nephew -- because "you never kill a pregnant woman".

No, that post isn’t stupid. Muslims lived in southern Italy for centuries. A lot of the culture of this area is taken from that era. It was later mixed with other factors. I don’t remember the details well enough to be more specific. But the basic facts you are responding to are correct.
