Neither Ryan or Ace are gay

And after this, we're supposed to believe anything this so-called "insider" claims?

Simon told Carrie very early on that she was going to sell a lot of records. And, I believe he said that she would sell more than anyone else would.

That's right. Simon was pimping for Carrie from day 1.

It's funny because I was going to put the same thing as an added comment when I posted it. There's some of it I don't believe but a lot of it I do. I do believe the show is fixed and the winner is virtually pre-selected. I also believe there is an enormous amount of pimping going on to promote certain contestants and that the final 4 has already been "selected." I also believe the wrench in the plan is Taylor as they don't know how to deal with him and his popularity. SirLinksAlot's post on Taylor being evidence of a revolt holds a lot of water with me. If form holds, Taylor will be the "shock" contestant booted out before the final 3. Frankly, I will be stunned if the finale does not have Chris and Kellie in it. And the "Idol" song will be geared towards Chris's genre.

He told her in the top 12 girls that she was the one to beat. He told Chris virtually the same thing this year.

<<>>The stuff Taylor sings is technically simpler than what Elliott sings. Taylor seems to impress people with his spazzy retarded over the hill white guy rocker act but he simply does not stray far outside of any vocal range so I guess it is easy not to miss when the bar isn't set that high.<<>>

Um, have you actually listened to Taylor's own music? He is good and it's not the spaz. His music is actually mellow and toned down. It's thought provoking and melodic. It's kind of country/blues/soft rock/even kind of folksy. Let's just say, he can sing whatever style of music that he damn well wants, unlike another monotonous contestant. ; )

Here, take a listen if you will and then decide if the reason people only like him is because of his "spazzy retarded over the hill white guy rocker act"

If the show is as badly rigged as the "insider" claims, he or she would have taken the evidence and run to a rival network for a big, fat payday rather than post messages to a fan board. This was just someone yanking people's chains, in my book.

That isn't to say that they don't pull a lot of tricks to push their favored contestants -- clearly they do, and have been called on it repeatedly in this thread (including the original thread). Personally, I would doubt that they monkey around with the actual vote results just from the sheer negative publicity they'd get when caught, and you know the other major networks would love to catch them doing something like that.

The idea is that you are supposed to vote based on what they do each week. That he wasn't in the bottom 3 after that John Denver debacle tells me that he could crap on the stage and his fans wouldn't care.

Voting for him because people have heard his CD (stereo enhanced and improved) is BS. People shouldn't be voting for ANY contestant for what she/he did before they got on Idol. Christ, could you imagine how good Mandisa, Elliott or McPhee would sound with studio engineering behind them?

Simon is a capitalist. If he could make a few million from Taylor then he'll do it.

And Simon, bless his big mouth, is losing his stash of insults to use... how many times has he thrown that "you'r drunk" schtick to us ?. C'mon man, let's be original. At least Grouch Marx and Don Rickels had a million of them.

Maybe its all Simon can think of, being seated next to Paula. Notice though that Simon never has anything to say about his vocals. Taylor should look simon straight in the face and say "What's druuuuunk?'

Um, actually they tell you to vote for the contestant that you want to win. The whole goal is to build up a viable fan base. This is simply a marketing show. With the internet it's very easy to find out much more than what is shown on the program on each contestant. Taylor isn't the only one who has a CD out by the way.

Heck, Mandisa was on Dayside yesterday and point blank stated that it is first and foremost a TV SHOW. I keep that in mind when I decide who I like OVERALL.

Also if you go back and LISTEN to his performances you can tell that Taylor nails them every time. Even on CR it wasn't as bad as it sounded on TV. He actually nailed the vocals. A musician explained that on CR he was harmonizing with the fiddle on the chorus which is common in traditional country and blue grass... It was also rumored that he was supposed to sing Hank Jr. and the producers yanked it at the last minute when Hank got arrested. I read that it was posted on Access Atlanta.

It's still a tv show first and foremost. It's scripted to a degree. I like Taylor's voice and I want him to get to the point where he gets a record contract in order to be able to produce a studio album. I'm evidently not alone in how I feel. I hope in all honesty Taylor stays away from Simon's record label.

If you like a contestant other than Taylor, then you better vote hot and heavy for them because the Soul Patrol is vast and growing daily. Taylor appeals across the generations and genres. ; )

OH, one other thing, Stevie, Barry and Queen all say that Taylor's got a great voice. Barry said it was one of the best male voices he's ever heard, Queen said that he had a great voice and knew how to use it as an instrument.... Stevie said he sings like he has feeling and it is coming from deep within his SOUL. In other words its real and heart felt. People are starving for real music again. Give me Taylor and his quirkiness any day over others who may be technically better but not emotionally involved with the song.

Excellent thoughts there. Simon may understand what the UK likes but he doesn't get the US. I still remember his dumbfounded look on his face when Bo sang Sweet Home Alabama last year. Simon doesn't get us, especially us southerners. lol

Go Soul Patrol!

Spectre, last night you asked: "If any of you get a chance to see a replay..take notice that it appears they CUT out some of Simon's remarks to Paris. I'd LOVE to know what he said?" I promised to look for you when I watched my DVD recording.

It did not appear to me that Simon's remarks were cut. Maybe I just couldn't see what caught your eye. I did see Simon kind of trying to control Paula in the background after Taylor sang. Paula had been up dancing and waving her arms like everyone else in the crowd. Simon kind of pulled her back down into her seat, then pulled her arms back down to the table. They he said something to her. He had a smile on his face, so it seemed that he was probably joking with her.

My take on it was they were running out of time - this is a live show so they have to keep to a strict schedule. So when Simon made his comment about Paris's act being "weird", the Idol Theme Song came on abruptly to move the show along (kinda like they do at the Oscar's when someone's speech goes on too long).

If the rumors were true, and both Taylor and Elliot wanted to do "Somebody To Love", can you just imagine Taylor's performance of that compared to Elliot's? Taylor would have blown him out of the water.

I think Taylor would have created the bulkdup that song was supposed to have, jmo

Okay, I had to miss last night, and my hubby forgot to tape it. (Almost a "sleeping-on-the-couch" moment.) So, after reading through the posts, I have decided that someone, perhaps I, should actually state the contestant and the song title. I don't know what half of them sang.

What did Taylor sing? My sister called and went on and on about how he "kicked A--", and said that she was for Taylor "all the way" now. (A former Paris lover. Ick. She has been enlightened.)

Emily wrote: If he keeps showing the improvement that he has shown each week he should do alright.

Catching up with the posts from last night, and saw your discussion about Elliott. Most of the comments last night during and after his performance were negative. I'm surprised and don't understand why.

I think Elliott had the best performance of the night. For the first time this season, a performance had the WOW factor for me. That boy can SING! I mean he can REALLY sing. He's not the prettiest fellow to look at, but the makeover people are doing a great job with him. Emily, after last night I came to the same conclusion you did: Elliott is the only contestant this year who has continued to improve and grow week after week.

He stretches himself, picks challenging material, and has never been totally off in any genre.

It was the best night of performances in awhile. Elliott and Paris had the two best performances, in my opinion. The three worst, for me, were Ace, Chris and Pickle (I won't use Gherkin because, as someone else observed, they are sweet).

A word about McPhee. She fancies herself a big-voiced singer of the Celine Dion/Whitney Houston variety. She is not. She doesn't have near the range, power, depth or warmth to her voice as do singers of the Dion/Houston type. She has a limited upper register that becomes nasal and sharp the wider she opens that big mouth to force the notes out.

McPhee is extremely self-conscious in a negative way. I still get the strong impression that she behaves the way she thinks people (i.e., her vocal coach mom) expect her to behave rather than just relaxing and being herself. As a result, her body language and movements are extremely awkward.

Pickle is ridiculous. However, I'm becoming convinced she's going to win this year.

I don't know who's writing her lines, but they need to teach her better comedic timing. Simon: "On paper...." Beat. Beat. Beat. Beat. Beat. Beat. Beat. Beat. Suddenly, Pickle remembers her line: "On payaaper?!" Giggle, giggle...

Even my dogs and cat gagged.

I think your post is spot on! Taylor fills a void. He's fun, spontaneous, you HEAR the words and vocals. He isn't drowned out by musicians. If you listen to his original material, its just clear and melodic.

I think Simon feels that Kellie is the only one that can challenge Taylor and I think she is going to fall short. He connects with the audience and THAT is what sells. Sells not only records but concert tickets.

People ask if you would go hear him perform this 'stuff'? Well, gosh, HE WRITES HIS OWN STUFF!!!! That is what people will pay to hear.

I just love The Fall and would love to get the full version.

Ah but it's not a question of what he has done someplace else, it's what he's done on this show.

On this show.... he consistently comes in number 1. Because he connects with the audience. He needs to ignore Simon. Simon doesn't have Taylor's best interests at heart. Taylor just needs to keep putting his heart and soul into what he sings. I loved the ending to CLTCL, where he lets loose.
