on other blogs and news stories that people who "CLAIM" to have seen rehearsals are all saying this will be one of the greatest performances in AI history. I

I hope so!!! I really want to see Taylor have an exceptional week. He's waaaaaay to good to be selling real estate.

I couldn't be more proud of her! She is sure to have a wonderful career just like Kelly Clarkson. They are two very truly deserving winners and women of incredible talent. They ARE what AI is all about!

(Queen) Innuendo Lyrics

While the sun hangs in the sky and the desert has sand
While the waves crash in the sea and meet the land
While there's a wind and the stars and the rainbow
'Till the mountains crumble into the plain

Oh yes we'll keep on tryin'
Tread that fine line
Oh we'll keep on tryin yeah
Just passing our time

While we live according to race, colour or creed
While we rule by blind madness and pure greed
Our lives dictated by tradition, superstition, false religion
Through the eons, and on and on

Oh yes we'll keep on tryin'
We'll tread that fine line
Oh oh we'll keep on tryin'
'Till the end of time
'Till the end of time

Through the sorrow all through our splendour
Don't take offence at my innuendo

You can be anything you want to be
Just turn yourself into anything you think that you could
ever be
Be free with your tempo be free be free
Surrender your ego be free be free to yourself

Oooh ooh
If there's a God or any kind of justice under the sky
If there's a point if there's a reason to live or die
If there's an answer to the questions we feel bad to ask
Show yourself - destroy our fears - release your mask

Oh yes we'll keep on trying
Hey tread that fine line
Yeah we'll keep on smiling yeah (yeah yeah)
And whatever will be will be
We'll keep on trying
We'll just keep on trying
'Till the end of time
'Till the end of time
'Till the end of time

there's a great column in the Mobile Press-Register today (in the Sports section no less) about Taylor....you can read it by going to al.com and then checking on Finnebaum's column....if you're either an Alabama or awburn fan, then you'll enjoy it....

HEaring that Taylor did change songs but that it was not a last minute thing. Apparently he and another contestant chose the same song, and rather than going head to head he agreed to change his song. Word is he had chosen "Somebody to Love" -- and seeing as he and Eliot are roommates I am sure that they did not want that hanging over them. At least that is my take on it.

Crazy Little Thing Called Love can be Karaoke or it can be your own depending on how you perform it.

When David Radford did it over a month ago, he was channeling Michael Buble's version, which did come out as karaoke.

Taylor Hicks may be many things but karaoke is *NOT* one of them.

If you do it well, it has the potential to involve the audience (clap and snap) and bring the house down. The many possible variations to this song are just too tantalizing to ignore.

I can see a lot of performance possibilities with CLTCL that David Radford and Fantasia ( who did it before) didn’t do, which is to GET THE CROWDS GOING in the rhythm.

This one version comes to my mind for instance...(use your imagination) :

Taylor can start with upbeat music ( percussions prominent), then moves on to the “There Goes My Baby…” part of the song and then suddenly, the music stops and Taylor simply signals the crowd to clap or snap to the beat of :

”Be cool (clap-clap) relax (clap-clap) get hip (clap-clap) Get on my track’s, Take a back seat (snap-snap), hitch-hike (snap-snap), And take a long ride on my motor bike” ( go on for 10 to 12 seconds)

and then the music comes in again with

“Until I’m ready Crazy little thing called love ”

Imagine the audience interaction and how he’d cause the crowd to go crazy after the song with this ! I can totally see it in my mind. Randy wouldn’t even be able to get a word in after that !

TO SUMMARIZE — This song has many possibilities with the right singer. David Radford and Michael Buble aren’t it. Taylor is it !

Granted, it isn’t a vocal showcase song, but we have The Great American Songbook week for that. This week is the time to have fun again after 2 weeks of losing the fun side of Taylor Hicks.

Of course we all hope this is NOT true, no one should have to put up with that behavior during a competition of this caliber.

I would love some insight (if either of you have any) about what you think about the 'phone line trouble for Mandisa. I've read several comments, not just here, that lots of people called to vote for her and got "dead air". I wonder if it had anything to do with the tornadoes that went through Tennessee (where she's from) and 'phone lines may have been down. What rotten luck....

Agree whole heartedly with your entire post Sir.

A lot of the buzz is that Taylor is going to do a more upbeat version based on Josh Kelley's arrangement on "Killer Queen - A Tribute to Queen". Kelley's version was fantastic, and Taylor will get the audience reaction with that version.

Love your cynicism about the voters.

... and the producers.

I doubt if anyone gets voted off that they don't "allow" to be.

Just saw that. Kat and Taylor singing different songs.

I think Taylor can nail "We Are The Champions" , not so sure about Kat with "Don't Stop Me Now". That is much more upbeat tempo wise than she has done, could be a make or break song for her.

Listened to the full song........it is going to be interesting. It is a dark song. The arrangement will make it or break it.

I was telling someone in Freepmail that Kelly and Carrie are great successes in part because they are versatile and cross over into other genres of music. This makes them money makers and even more marketable. I think Carrie will have a huge career.

OK just did some quick checking around. This is what I am hearing on multiple Blogs/forums etc..

Queen website list is the ORIGINAL list, USA TODAY is the current list

Taylor picked "We are the Champions" BUT apparently that is going to be the GROUP SONG tomorrow night, so AI asked him to switch.

Katherine originally picked "Don't Stop Me Now" because Mandisa chose "Who wants To Live Forever" -- Kat changed songs when Mandisa got voted off.

So, the scuttlebutt is that the USA Today songs are the correct ones, but we shall see tonight.

I can't see that song working for Ace. He may be gone after tonight.

I think Bucky is going to have a very good night, too.

Dunno about Chris. I think I would rather see him put his spin on a better known song, but that one could be okay for him.

Elliott should do well. With him being in the bottom 3 last week, just doing well may not be good enough though.

Katharine should also do well. I do think that doing well is good enough for her at this point. Probably won't be good enough in a couple more weeks though.

Hmmm..."Bohemian Rhapsody" from Kellie. I doubt she has the lung capacity for it. I'll be surprised if she doesn't massacre it...but...she seems to have a strong enough fan base that she could probably do a rap version and still get plenty of votes.

Good song for Paris, but I think she's at the point that she'll need a knock-out performance to stay out of the bottom 3, maybe even to keep from being voted off.

If anyone can be successful with "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", it's Taylor. He can still survive even if he doesn't pull it off, but he really needs a good night to silence the doubters.

Bucky will get zillions of votes from all the fat-bottomed girls.

Prediction: Bucky will NOT go home this week!

I hate that stupid "We Will Rock You" (which they play overly loud at every stadium in the country, even our little Triple A baseball stadium)...therefore, I'm happy that Ace chose it, for this will be the Kiss of Death for him.
