Kenny Rogers looks soooo different now with his half shaved beard.
Thought it was something wrong with his eyes, but hubby said it was the new beard. I think he's right.
'Saw Kenny at a local reastaurant last year. (He endorses Barona Casinos)
'Like the old "lovable fuzzball" beard better.

Do you know that both Fantasia and Jennifer were up for the lead role in that film, and that Jennifer beat her out. LOL! No kidding? There's hope for "the real world."

No kidding? There's hope for "the real world."Yep, it's true. I forget now who was backing Fantasia, but the director and/or producer of the movie wanted Jennifer.

Thanks for the link. I did see info about that mistake posted elsewhere today, but didn't get a chance to cross-link it here.

Yeah, it through my wife for a loop too. The hair style is different too. It used to be way longer (covering the ears) and parted down the middle. I thought he looked good for his age. He's gotta be, what, 60-65 by now?
To: Netizen
Jennifer's a lot easier on the eyes and ears!Definitely.
Fantasia...

American Idol "song choice" involves a lot of work behind the scenes
Besides being accused of being pitchy, whatever the hell that means, the American Idol contestants most often find themselves being criticized for their song choice. So how exactly do they choose songs? MTV.com answers that question today, finding that song choice is the one true strategic element in the Idol race.
In the final rounds, the shows producers actually do get them started by sharing several possibilities, MTV.com says.
Once theyve selected a song, it has to be cleared. Of the five different rights in the copyright of a song, the show needs two of them to use it on the show: the performance right, which ASCAP and BMI handle, and the synchronization right. The latter, according to an ASCAP VP, is what you need to get when you sync a musical composition with any type of visual: motion picture, video, etc.
The shows producer, Nigel Lythgoe, walks us through an example: If we wanted to, say, clear a song by the Eagles, we would have to ask the publisher, the person who holds the rights, the songwriter and each one of the Eagles. And if one of them says no, we cant sing the song.
While some readily give up the rights, others refuse. Lythgoe says, A lot of people that have written the songs just say, No, I dont want you to sing my song. People just dont want their songs sung by good singers. Or, you know, by horrible hack singers who are will be accused of doing bad karaoke five seconds after finishing.

Kenny Rogers doesn't look old at all in person, but he did last night...maybe he wasn't feeling well.
The biggest surprise, seeing icons in person, was Randy Travis and Kenny Rogers, because they are always photographd to look taller and beefier.
Randy Travis was once told by a lady fan, "I'm so glad t'meetcha, but where's the REST of ya?" He told that on himself at the beginning of a concert. It must be a shock to fans at first, he's so small.
He was a juror in the Grisham movie "The Rainmaker" and was so cleverly photographed, you'd never tell. He jumped out of the jury box to attack huge Jon Voight, but it never showed him upright.

Looks like AI is on for an hour tonight???I don't know. I never check the length of time the show runs, because I have my DVD set to record it. Also, I'm in California, so I see the show much later than most of the folks who post on this thread during the live broadcast.

I just thought it odd that it was an hour tonight. Usually the results show is only half an hour. I wondered if its possible that they got so many complaints about the sound last night that maybe they will let them redo their songs and use an hour instead and revote tonight. And have a special show for the results tomorrow. Like they did back when they mesed up the numbers. And, maybe because they messed up Mandisa's numbers for a bit, they needed to redo??
Anyway, I just noticed the time slot was an hour and thought I'd pass it on. Maybe they are just going to do a couple of group songs is all.
