I've done it - no harm whatsoever. Don't let it go through the dry cycle. Air dry it.
Computer guys at the hospitals I supported used to toss the CRT keboards in the dishwashers in the hospital kitchen. Those things were built like trucks and could take anything excpt soda spilled on them, they jammed. One quick cycle in the commercial washers...which last only 15minutes...unjammed them.
