In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
succor \SUH-kuhr\, noun:
1. Aid; help; assistance; especially, assistance that relieves and delivers from difficulty, want, or distress.
2. The person or thing that brings relief.
transitive verb:
1. To help or relieve when in difficulty, want, or distress; to assist and deliver from suffering; to relieve.
Example sentence:
There was some talk about the perils of the sea, and a landsman delivered himself of the customary nonsense about the poor mariner wandering in far oceans, tempest-tossed, pursued by dangers, every storm blast and thunderbolt in the home skies moving the friends by snug firesides to compassion for that poor mariner, and prayers for his succor.
-- Mark Twain, "Some Rambling Notes of an Idle Excursion," The Atlantic, November 1877
Etymology: Succor derives from Latin succurrere, "to run under, to run or hasten to the aid or assistance of someone," from sub-, "under" + currere, "to run."
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
people make fun of me and my END TIMES signs but every day we have more proof. this is a major sign.
Finished that painting, hurrah! I won't have to work in that unheated house tomorrow with temperatures predicted down to 28 by late tonight-
Now queen Hillary says the Bible
Tells us we're mean and tough
If we don't let illegals in
And let them share our stuff
I think she's finally lost it-
What other explanation
Is there for such a statement
And causing a sensation
I hope she gets ripped a new one
For airing such opinions
And won't be offered succor
By even her most rabid minions
I think you are absolutely correct about the end times.
Giving succor to an evil person makes you a sucker.
BTW, coming soon to a dimocrat gathering somewhere -- Hildebeast with stigmata...
GRIMMY! you are going beyond the pale with these mental imagines!

Oh, come on - the article was great and the pic actually was flattering to her.......as hard as that is to believe.
This story has legs.......what a scumbag creep that guy is, and he was allowed access to children right up to the day he was arrested. And the 14 yo girl who was found dead within sight of his house? Scary.
Lucifer could quote the Bible......it means nothing.
LMAO!
I was so happy to not have to work in that cold house again tomorrow that I got energetic when I got home and mixed up a loaf of sourdough bread to go with the loin strips I'm going to grill-it should be just about done rising and ready for the oven. Hubby loves garlic bread, so I'll make him up a couple of slices for dinner. Maybe then he will not complain about the lovely fresh Alaskan salmon I bought for tomorrow's dinner-I'll be sure he has plenty of tartaer sauce...
oh that's right he is a FUDDY DUDDY about fishywishies!
besides we have seen her head spin!
I don't think her heinous is thinking at all any more-she just says whatever comes into her head and believes everyone thinks she has any sense.

-she actually did not quote scripture.....she referred to it. Big difference.
It just doesn't make sense to me how someone could not like fresh cooked seafood and yet love the warmed over rotten cabbage known as sauerkraut...
I doubt she even knew what she was referring to-someone probably told her it would sound like she was a christian and compassionate-in my opinion she sounded like an idiot.
serious character flaw, but they all have them, of one sort or another ; )
