Scott Hahn is the same - a Catholic Bible scholar. I said in a review I wrote for a homeschooling paper, "He's not making it up; he's looking it up!" Not new, but rediscovered ... "new to us," as I say about most of our clothes :-).
I think that our environment constricts us, so that we don't get the whole of the Christian message in its simplest form. Instead, it's been elaborated over time, until there's so MUCH that we can't take in the whole; each age, or each denomination, emphasizes certain parts. Anything that brings us together around a "Big Point" is good!
A hearty AMEN to THAT!! We share a common table, now over 2000 years long, with our Lord, himself, seated at the head; it's way past time to halt the food fight.
