Some people are in customer service because they have no skills and most places see it as a no-skill job. The problem is that it is a skilled job. Be nasty to people and soon you will have no customers to serve.
A good CS person is like a good receptionist, worth their weight in gold.

I've had three complaints in all my years of dealing with customers. Two of them were thrown out and one was a misunderstanding on the part of the complainer.
There are a lot of situations I wasn't trained to handle, but I've always been able to call someone in and get the complainer calmed down.
That guy was a jerk. He just thought he owned the place today, and I let him know he didn't.
