Why I Support President Bush and the ZOT!
Posted on 03/19/2006 6:29:28 AM PST by thousand dollar hamburger
I think he has a sincere desire to help everyone. he has even gone out of his way to embrace people like Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy. He does not hold grudges as shown by his willingness to bend over backwards to allow terrorist supporting nations to operate our ports. We need this type of benevolent leader.
Our President is not a cheapskate, as he has opened up our budget to give to anyone who might need anything.
Aliens from all nations are welcomed into our great country without having to deal with mundane bureaucratic State approval. Cutting government red tape -- that's the Bush way!
Yes, our Prseident even realizes that occupying as many countries around the world as possible is the best way to spread American ideals.
We are truly lucky to have this great man. I suggest that at 10:00 AM EST, we all stand up in unison and shout -- HOORAY FOR BUSH!!!

"If it has human DNA, isn't that getting a wee bit close to cannibalism?" Only if you consider drinking milk from any source to be the equivalent of eating meat. Oh well, Charles Atlas considered it such.
Let's try this, is enjoying a feast at mother's bosom a form of cannibalism? Vlad, what say you?
What's that? You're mumbling again.

I guess depending on His will - there may be many civilisations, or there maybe just one.
Scientifically, the prospects don't look good - even though there are millions of trillions of stars in the known Universe - the chances of two or more civilisations forming at the same time in a Universe 15 billion years old is slim.
Also, the 'Habitable Zone' in the Universe seems to be tiny, which of course doesn't mean there isn't anything out there. We just have to wait to see.

The colonising and exploration of space in itself will raise challenges for religion and ideology - the presence of ETI life will challenge those notions fundamentally.

"... the presence of ETI life will challenge those notions fundamentally." Not for me. I have no trouble with the idea.
The most important aspect is sentience. Self-awareness. Not form.
We can, in many respects, speak to Gorillas and other apes. If we develop the technolgy to translate messages into and from Dolphin, our perceptions could begin changing very soon.

Anyway, I guess when I said 'religion' and 'ideology' - I was mainly referring to 'Islam' and 'liberalism', though I guess for Muslims - Aliens will be Infidels, so it won't affect much there LOL!
As for liberalism - they are at the point of having a pre-Galilean notion of Man being the center of the Universe - note how they oppose manned space missions - the discovery of ETI life would also screw-up their 'Island Earth' mindset, and their Utilitarian-Eugenic agenda.

I find commas confusing meself - I guess it's because the written language is based on the spoken language, people don't alway know where to pause in a sentence.
