I don't think Tammany Hall had much to do with this. Slavery was abolished in New York in 1827

Let's not forget that New York's large Irish population was largely anti-black and supported the Confederacy. Those that were drafted into the union served honorably, however.

Check your dates: Tammany (corrupt and ill-favored, using its power over immigrants and sweat-shop workers (through the businesses and sweat-shop owners) was in power after NY slavery had (officially) ended.
