Time for a new FreeRepublic folding@home thread.

Our FreeRepublic team of 300+ members comprised primarily of Free Republic members in good standing have banded together to donate their excess CPU cycles to a worthy cause. Via distributed computing, millions of computers around the world, contribute directly to scientific research, in the quest for a greater understanding of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Mad Cow (BSE).

Currently, the team is in 164th place (with 992 CPUs - nearly 19,000 completed Work Units and 2,982,241 points)

This is an entirely voluntary program, and if you want to learn more, please see the links posted below (or read one of the previous 8 folding threads)

Looks like others have already put the thought of Folding and this puppy together ...

Introducing HPC for the "Home or small business user" I am guessing the folding team is going to drool over this little playtoy

http://www.tyan.com/products/html/typhoon_b2881.html

Still no price on froogle. However it would be a fun project. Power Requirements are quite low given what you get in the box.

Enjoy Everyone.

Yipee! I will be adding 6 CPU's tomorrow. All Win 98 and old/slow - but 6 of 'em.

Any config tips for Win 98? Anyone?

Out of the 50's - onward - guess I'll chase you for a while.

Tried running FAH on an older WINNT4.0 box - P2 266.

Was going to take something like 40 days to complete a 10Mil frame WU.

Needless to say, I opted to put the box out of its misery.

I have an older box that I added memory and a better video card (getting rid of shared memory video).

Run it with no-deadline work units and you get points every week from it.

Absolute Grace has been kind enough to add her CPU to my tiny little group of folders.. So, she is now up to 33% on her first work unit. Yoo hoo!

Trying to figure out how to keep this Chris Primavera in check!

Thanks for joining the team!

I wish that Chris would let us in on his FReeper name so we could ping him. Even a private FReep mail would do.

Do we need to have AbsoluteGrace on the ping list?

Added 2 more cpu's yesterday, should be checking in soon. Using the console version on these, not sure if I've got them tweaked right. Haven't OC'ed them yet, maybe in a few days.

Remember to give --> (.Y.) <-- a hand whenever we pass them. Hopefully, they'll stand up and point at us on our way by.

Oh trust me. Some of us are paying CLOSE attention, and will do our best to render honors, as we pass....
