Country trio the DIXIE CHICKS are planning to re-ignite their feud with US President GEORGE W BUSH in a provocative new song. The group sparked controversy when singer NATALIE MAINES publicly criticised Bush during a concert in London in 2003 - and fans staged bonfires, where they burned CDs and merchandise after calling the girls traitors. That led to Maines sobbing during an apologetic interview on US TV. But the feisty singer remains defiant and has penned new tune NOT READY TO MAKE NICE, which addresses the controversy surrounding her concert comments. Maines teamed up with former SEMISONIC frontman DAN WILSON to write the song, which begins, "Forgive, sounds good/Forget, I'm not sure I could/They say time heals everything/But I'm still waiting." The provocative track will appear on the Dixie Chicks' upcoming album TAKING THE LONG WAY HOME, which was produced by RICK RUBIN and features guest appearances from RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer CHAD SMITH and guitarist MIKE CAMPBELL. The album also features the song I HOPE, which the Dixie Chicks wrote with blues star KEB' MO' as a tribute to the victims of Hurricane Katrina last year (05). 10/03/2006 19:36
Make sure you all call your radio stations and request their new song which is currently being worked into rotation NOT be played. Stations will be over ran with repeated calls from their fanatical fans and there is only one way to counter, and that is by calling in.
Please call your local station and keep these idiots off the air!
It'll sell some...the Dixie Chicks have a new fan base now...comprised mainly folks on the left who will run out and buy it simply because of this "feud" that the Dixie Chicks themselves are perpetuating.
Does anyone truly believe that George Bush actually cares an iota what the Dixie Chicks say or do?
well from reading their fan boards...the chicks arn't as done with country as they claimed. They are pushing the song on COUNTRY radio as we speak despite just last month (?) claiming to be done with it. No integrity whatsoever. Apprantly its gotten about 100 spins so far, and that is something of a good thing to the fans.
Again...call your stations and let them you DO NOT want to hear them on the radio. Not now. Now EVER!
hmmm,,, thinking of a four letter word for snatch (and it's not "grab")
I'm going to take a wild guess here, and assume that this is a forum highly dominated by republicans. I won't take issue with that, although I could go on for hours. What I do take issue with is that the fact that this trio of women and their amazing talent it being ignored. Some of you have even recognized my point, before Natalie Maines said anything about Bush, the Dixie Chicks were at the top of the world. So my question along with Natalie's is, why do we have rights if people get to choose when to censor those rights? Free speech is something that is supposed to be a given to any American, so why is it only applicable if it's something everybody wants to hear? I didn't disagree with the war in general, I agreed that something had to be done with Saddam, (with his trying to dictate how one should act, and what one should say, and if someone defied him they were "handled"....hmmm, let's think about that.) What I disagree with is Bush and his presidency, or lack thereof. But that's not my point. Natalie Maines had every right to say what she said, just as all of us have every right to post what were are posting now. It is called free speech, and if the majority doesn't like it, there's nothing they can really do about it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, alas our world is full of hypocrites. Criticism is something that goes hand in hand with the Presidency and should be expected. What I'm really wondering now is "What happened to all those people that support Bush when Maines said what she said, now that his approval rating is in the 30th percentile."
Get over the fact that Maines said something she had every right to say. Realize there are people who feel the same way, but she had the courage to announce her feelings to the world. Aside from this, to those of you who don't want to see this song get airplay; sit down, listen to the song. I heard it once, and I thought, "Hey this is a good song." I listened to the words, and realized there had to be something behind it, but I wasn't sure if it was Bush or country music, so I checked it out. Needless to say, I absolutely loved the song when I realized the meaning.
This is a privately owned and operated forum. Your 1st Amendment rights do not apply here, troll.
Hey! The fat little neck can say what she wants, I can say what I want, but I don't have to buy her stupid bubble-gum album if I don't want. And the Mods can kick us both in the arse if they want. Freedom of speech is for everyone, and it isn't unlimited in a private forum.
Also, from what I've heard, these little powderpuffs aren't that great. They do covers of pop hits. They play instruments, great, that's like the dancing bear. It's not whether they play them well or badly, but that they play them at all.
The Maines Brothers they are not. Little Feat they are not. The Highlanders they are not. SXSW they are not. They reflect badly on their progenitors. Women's auxiliary.
Did you write a lengthy post to the chicks similar to the one you just wrote to myself, when the chicks posted a message on their website urging their fans and anyone else who would listen to boycott Sinclair an it's sponsors when Sinclair was to run a documentary on John Kerry that painted him as the cowardess tratior that we all know him to be? Somehow I doubt you did.
Hyporcrit, Thy name is Sean.
Here ya go Sean... Why don't you actually try using your brain and research the chicks and they total hypocracy instead of following their lead like some lemming.
I postd this thread back in October of 2004.
