Country trio the DIXIE CHICKS are planning to re-ignite their feud with US President GEORGE W BUSH in a provocative new song. The group sparked controversy when singer NATALIE MAINES publicly criticised Bush during a concert in London in 2003 - and fans staged bonfires, where they burned CDs and merchandise after calling the girls traitors. That led to Maines sobbing during an apologetic interview on US TV. But the feisty singer remains defiant and has penned new tune NOT READY TO MAKE NICE, which addresses the controversy surrounding her concert comments. Maines teamed up with former SEMISONIC frontman DAN WILSON to write the song, which begins, "Forgive, sounds good/Forget, I'm not sure I could/They say time heals everything/But I'm still waiting." The provocative track will appear on the Dixie Chicks' upcoming album TAKING THE LONG WAY HOME, which was produced by RICK RUBIN and features guest appearances from RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer CHAD SMITH and guitarist MIKE CAMPBELL. The album also features the song I HOPE, which the Dixie Chicks wrote with blues star KEB' MO' as a tribute to the victims of Hurricane Katrina last year (05). 10/03/2006 19:36
Definitely a good point - however; you have to admit; Rob and Fab were probably 50% victims and 50% perps.
The Dixie Chicks implosion was entirely self-inflicted.

...and Steve Blass...

Boy is THAT ever true...
You are correct;
I was just thinking of a pure Machiavellian move by the other two; but of course, country music fans see through it and would have none of it, I'm sure.
With the DC's attitude, it does sort of make you wonder how they ever got to the level they achieved...

She really came across as a belligerent phoney in her "apology. I'm done with her. When she wore that tee shirt at the country awards that said FU TK, that reinforced exactly what kind of a person she was at the core. ROTTEN!

So she had to have a co-writer? What the shampoo?
Probably sell a lot of CDs in Boston, Berkley and NYC.
Not so much in Nashville, Charleston, Birmingham, Tulsa, Richmond, Dallas, etc.
Like to see how much play they get on CMT.
The problem is they're as bad as she is.
LOL! Well, you tried.
Actually, CMT is back to playing their videos and has for awhile now. You might want to get in touch with them and register your displeasure.
I loved their music .. pretty gals, darned talented ... but after this, I just pulled the CD/DVD when they turned political, and really haven't missed them at all. Amazing how you can "cull" your collection. Anne Murray's gone, so is Celine, Barbara S has been gone for some time. Now I'm getting it down to the "good guys." A "Good guy" for me is someone who SINGS or PLAYS very well, but I haven't a clue of how they VOTE.
The Dixie Bitches.
I seem to recall hearing something about a Fat One, a Blonde One and a Cross-Eyed One...am I in the ballpark?
...am I in the ballpark ?
Heck your in the right trailer park.
Well, yee-haw!
How will this play in Lubbock?
The Ryan Leaf of music. There's plenty of good music to buy and learn, no need to spend one second or one nickel on these chicks.
Sony is currently under investigation for paying off dj's and stations to play their artists songs. Not a coinscidence that Sony payed more in production costs for the chicks than any other artist in the labels hystory.
Their success was bought and paid for. They are dellusional if they think otherwise as their talent is mediocre and I dont think even Rick Rubin can save this one.
CMT is owned by Viacom. Nuff Said?
It wont. They have another song on the album bashing Lubbock as well, Its called "Lubbock or Leave It" and its about how small minded the place is according to the chicks.
