Sopranos-The New Season Begins on Sunday Night--Official Thread
HBO ^ | 3/10/06 | Misterrob

Posted on 03/10/2006 10:52:47 AM PST by misterrob

I didn't see one had been started for the show so I thought I'd create one.

Last season left us with Tony having to exercise some leadership within his own organization in order to save them from a war with the larger and more powerful NY families. His nemesis is picked up during a sweep leaving a void in the mob heirarchy. Meanwhile Tony and his wife have reconciled (badly done mind you), Meadow is now engaged to her confused, brow beaten and somewhat afraid boyfriend. Initial reviews point to a good season with new cast members Ben Kingsley, Tim Daley and Juliana Margulies joining the show.

Two or three times a year. When cloud cover is VERY heavey. Other wise great reception.

I noticed in your previous post you are in Wisconsin. From what I've heard the midwest has been experiencing some pretty rough weather the past day or so. Glad you were able to see the show tonight. :o)

We have digital cable, but then again, our power goes out more than two or three times a year (high winds, storms, etc.).

He's not going anywhere. Without him there is no show. It's a dramatic plot element. With Tony laid up there is a power struggle in the works. Fat Gay Guy is already making noise about where he wants to be and Chris has his own ideas. I see some interesting stuff leading up the season intermission.

Yep, I agree.

I dunno about you all, but after this I was in no mood to watch Mormons (nothing against Mormons, I would have felt the same way if it had been Lutherans, Jews, Irish Catholics or whatever). And I like Bill Paxton, but WTF...

I watched the premiere of "Big Love"... yet another bizarre HBO series (I thought Carnivale and Six Feet Under were strange). I think the characters are polygamists - and trying to keep that fact a secret from the community - and not members of the Mormon church.

I did a double-take when Laurence "Creepy Liar" O'Donnell made an appearance... playing a lawyer, I believe.

I watched the premiere of "Big Love", too. Sorry, but there just wasn't enough to bring me back.

Shoot, if I had 3 wives, I'd need a Pez dispenser that shot out Viagra in each bedroom.

No, thanks...one wife is enough for me. The plot lines just aren't compelling enough for me.

I probably won't watch it regularly either. The polygamy thing is such a strange concept, I was just interested in how the writers would portray it. The scenes shot in the "polygamist commune" out in the sticks were certainly strange. I'm in awe communes like that exist in this country.

Shoot, if I had 3 wives, I'd need a Pez dispenser that shot out Viagra in each bedroom.

LOL!

Yeah...I should have been more precise. They were offshoots of the Mormons and not mainstream...thanks.

I shut it off before O'Donnell got there, but that's enough reason for me never to watch it again. And, the first ten minutes weren't very engaging anyway.

True...but it looks like at least two of the informants (one we knew about from last season) and the other one we didn't know about, are now dead.

Yes, Janice now has a several-month old infant and so it appears that 15 months have gone by since Johnny was "sacked" by the feds. Johnny Sac and his money problems is another reason why there is going to be many more shady deals going on with the family. Johnny isn't going to be happy if his wife doesn't have enough money for food! LOL

Yes, Carm was not pg and nothing to come of that. I guess her one fling is going to be kept private. And apparently, her marriage is pretty tight right now.

I guess Vito wasn't going to whack Finn, after Finn found out about his true nature. I wondered if something was going to happen to Finn over it. Of course, it's early yet. And you know they'll whack Vito at some point.

There are spoilers boards on the net (if you know where to look) and someone fun is coming back for "closure", so this is going to be a great season.

I don't think Tony bought it last night, either, despite what many think. It would be too complicated if he died right off. I wonder, though, if they aren't doing some sort of strange chop-chop and messing with the order of the entire season, episode by episode. In other words, he really dies but it's not revealed until the very end, the final show. I don't know.

Salut!

Hey, don't sully the thread by bringing Lawrence O'Donnell into it.

I don't watch MSNBC any longer but one of the last times I did I found myself yelling at the TV because of him which is pretty irrational.

Nah, He'll end up playing a targeted politician in next season's 24 or he'll play opposite of Angelina Jolie in some comdey movie and steal her away from Brad "Pott Marks" Pitt.

My favorite line from this episode (paraphrased), "Ginny Sac has the weight of the world on her shoulders." Cut to Tony trying not to crack up.

I would love for Furio to make an appearance. But don't tell me if you already know. I love the suspense of each week. All the great characters, that's just one of the reasons I love the show.

That's been the main draw for me for five seasons...wanting to see something juicy happen between the good doc and T. There is some chemistry there...
