Sopranos-The New Season Begins on Sunday Night--Official Thread
HBO ^ | 3/10/06 | Misterrob

Posted on 03/10/2006 10:52:47 AM PST by misterrob

I didn't see one had been started for the show so I thought I'd create one.

Last season left us with Tony having to exercise some leadership within his own organization in order to save them from a war with the larger and more powerful NY families. His nemesis is picked up during a sweep leaving a void in the mob heirarchy. Meanwhile Tony and his wife have reconciled (badly done mind you), Meadow is now engaged to her confused, brow beaten and somewhat afraid boyfriend. Initial reviews point to a good season with new cast members Ben Kingsley, Tim Daley and Juliana Margulies joining the show.

Maybe the low level guy, I also think he was the one who busted a Snapple bottle on the other guy that made Finn puke and fear for himself and caused him to fear looking Meadow in the eye.

I dunno about you all, but after this I was in no mood to watch Mormons (nothing against Mormons, I would have felt the same way if it had been Lutherans, Jews, Irish Catholics or whatever). And I like Bill Paxton, but WTF...

Methinks you are on to something, friend...and Janice just couldn't get her fat *ss over to Uncle Junior's could she?

He's not going anywhere. Without him there is no show. It's a dramatic plot element.

T'aint no big thing.

I pretty much agree, Tony'll be incapacitated and everyone's trying to get a piece of his pie (AJ and Janice, two characters I can't stand, actually have the chance to be important/intriguing characters in the coming weeks). But it still feels like a bit of a cheap tactic under that scenario. We've already had this type of event happen before in the show with Christpher, although not with the consequences.

James Gandolfini has long wanted to walk away from the character, so I can see him pushing for a plot twist like this behind the scenes--either Tony dies, or his role is minimalized so he can pursue other roles. Its possible that he does die, and he's scene more in flashback or in dream sequences. The show loves to do that, and wouldn't it be fitting if the main cast member spends the rest of the season as a ghost/hallucination in the minds of his "friends" and "family"?

Somebody sold you a bill of goods about clouds. The only thing that can effect the signal is something effecting the reflection of the dish to the receiver piece. That is why heavy rain can hurt the signal: not enough signal can bounce off the dish. Clouds are NOT the reason. If your installer told you that, he lied to you.

Gandolfini, I think, is f***ed as far as playing anything but a mob role, I think. A victim of his own success.

Well, since the secret is out, here is what I think:

Tony wont say who shot him, to protect his uncle. So everyone is going to point fingers at the dude who hung himself, and think he did it before dying. It could start an internal war, because Syl is the one who told him about Florida. Some might think he was part of a plan.

Then you have the Feds, who will also think there is more to the death. This is going to be a hell of a season.

I think Silvio Dante is going to try for a power grab also, he has not been on board with Tony for a while now. I expect he'll be sleeping wit the fishes in an episode or two.

From Direct TV:

WHAT'S WRONG:
You have no picture and a message on your TV screen says, "Searching for satellite signal. Please stand by."

POSSIBLE CAUSES:
A signal isn't getting from your dish to your receiver. This may be a cabling problem.
Your dish isn't picking up a signal. Your dish is blocked or may not be pointed correctly, or there is a problem with the LNB on the dish.
Your receiver is getting a signal but isn't processing the signal correctly.
A very severe storm has temporarily interfered with the signal.

I had a feeling junior was gonna go nutty & shoot Tony.....of course that feeling came about 20 seconds before he actually did it. Awesome episode.

best show on tv! It would be great if the entire season was a mystery like is Tony dead, is this real sorta stuff. Kind of like Lost.

Look, its your dish, but clouds alone do not make a severe storm. I hope you have someone look at it, but if not good luck.

You forgot a big one.

Dialogue courtesy of 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'
Episode: The Benadryl Brownie

Larry can't get the satellite dish to work so his wife and her friends can watch the Emmy's live feed.

Wanda: Why'd you fire the black man?

Larry: I fired the black man... because... he's the guy who set up the whole system here and it doesn't work! And he's here like... every week, I'm givin' him checks, we've got five remotes, I can't turn it on... but I know, you know, *black* man can *never* do anything *wrong*, at least to get fired from a job! Black people *always* do everything right!

[Wanda walks over to TV, pushes button, fixes it]

Wanda: You gotta turn the damn satellite on for the TV to work! See the little green light? Just gotta turn it on! Or you can fire the black man. Whatever works for you.

I'm with you. After Sopranos I didn't feel like watching the Mormon show. But I like Bill Paxton, so I kept at it for a while and then who do I see playing a lawyer, Laurence O'donnell. The screaming idiot left wing P###
I had to turn it off. That did it for me.
