The airport has been troubled during his term with security breakdowns and high staff turnovers. Having worked security and commercial corrections I read this as a competent guy couldn't make the slightest headway with a bunch of idiot employees who didn't give an F and were impossible to motivate.

You are 100% correct there...Newark is a cesspool of nothing but lowlifes, and half of the employees there should be in the prison next to the airport, not working there. Mostly thugs and thieves at the airport. My luggage has been stolen, rifled through twice, and when I filed a complaint the cops act like it is my fault. Who needs that kind of crap? I sure don't.

Might not have been a 'headway' issue from the employee level.
Our new Governor has cleaned out the homeland security people. The scary part, he postures it as if he was fixing McG appointees. The feds fixed the McG appointees when McG had to step down. When Corzine replaced our homeland security director, a few newspapers reported rumors that he was replaced for doing a good job.
