New Security Chief at Newark Airport
Millennium Radio New Jersey ^ | Friday, March 10, 2006

There's been a security shakeup at the top at Newark Liberty International Airport.

The airport's federal security director, Marcus Arroyo, cleared out his office following a meeting with the Transportation Security Administration 's Eastern area director yesterday.

T-S-A officials say Arroyo was told to either retire or be reassigned.

The former Navy Seal took over the job shortly after the nine-eleven attacks. Newark was one of the airports where the hijackers flew out of.

The airport has been troubled during his term with security breakdowns and high staff turnovers.

Deputy airport security director Mark Hatfield Junior has been named acting director.

The son of former U-S Senator Mark Hatfield was the T-S-A's chief spokesman before taking the number two job at Newark in September.

Having worked security and commercial corrections I read this as a competent guy couldn't make the slightest headway with a bunch of idiot employees who didn't give an F and were impossible to motivate.

Logan upgraded their security systems with Wi Fi and video.

The whole Wi Fi was a little surprising. As per the hacker sandboxes, the data transmitted on Wi Fi is totally capturable.

I even saw articles about school systems that converted to Wi Fi having all their data captured by hackers.

You are 100% correct there...Newark is a cesspool of nothing but lowlifes, and half of the employees there should be in the prison next to the airport, not working there. Mostly thugs and thieves at the airport. My luggage has been stolen, rifled through twice, and when I filed a complaint the cops act like it is my fault. Who needs that kind of crap? I sure don't.

Might not have been a 'headway' issue from the employee level.

Our new Governor has cleaned out the homeland security people. The scary part, he postures it as if he was fixing McG appointees. The feds fixed the McG appointees when McG had to step down. When Corzine replaced our homeland security director, a few newspapers reported rumors that he was replaced for doing a good job.

You read it right.

You know of course, that all this incompetence is the fault of DPW.

Flying next week. Don't expect to see any improvements at all.

The nicest people are the guys at the curb who check in the luggage.

The screeners are incompetent barely speaking english lowest paid folks.

Wow, so what else could be wrong...... it is so sad to see a really nice airport like Newarks', get a reputation like it has earned. I wouldn't fly in to Newark on a bet, and I have to go there once a month for my living. Yuk, they can have it!
