Outside of San Francisco and West Hollywood, nobody likes gay folks in public, we only tolerate them and allow them fair and equal job situations.

Yes, simply put, none of the normal heterosexuals like to watch them or their parades. They really don't like or accept them or their lifestyle.

We do however recognize we need to tolerate them in the workplaces as long as they don't prey on others.
They deserve a right to make a living.

Not entirely true. South Park has hinted at Mr. Garrison being gay for a very long time, and then finally admitted to it. It is entering into its 10th season. People will watch when it is an accurate portrayal of homosexuals as deviants rather than the most glamourous people on the show.
