That's pretty much SOP in divorce cases.Such charges can only help the woman because there's no way to prove they're false (in cases where they're false).
Of course,if the charges are true it should be held against the husband.

She should have taken pictures of the physical abuse/bruises. It's hard to "claim" domestic abuse with no proof.
Emotional abuse is a whole other story.
