I heard with my own ears on sunday Night that the levees had been compromised. someone please help in supplying proof of this. I was watching FNL between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. and they broke the story about the levee breach but it was not mentioned again till much later. Please help I know what I heard. BTW this is Sunday the night Katrina came ashore.
Again?
yes I've had no proof.
one broke again or before Katrina, your post isn't clear. Either way it's Bush's fault.
BTW this is way more against Blanco's comment on Tuesday than anything.
It didn't hit until Monday?
My point is that everyone says Monday morning but at 6 pm Sunday I thought they had plenty of time to go check those leads of compromised levees before the next morning. They meaning Blanco and other local officials.
?
We moved this from activism to general interest. Please don't post your random thoughts in the activism sidebar.
Thanks.
Sorry didn't know it was just a thought. I know what I heard thought it would help to get more evidence in the open about new things said about the Katrina tragedy and who was informed and who wasn't. It's hard to pick the right topics sometimes, thanks for the heads up.
YOur points a good one. I was watching it unfold, and was on FR that night. Two issues here with two main breaks. First there is the confusion about breaching levees and topping them. Also the fact that there is confusion about levees and flood walls. Watching CNN it was pretty apparent that what had not occured that after in the 9th ward NOLA east was significant. I can still remember the CNN reporter in horrid disbelief after she went out in the boats with the Louisiana Dept of Wildlife and Fisheries.
However the confusion comes in as to the second breach. At about 10 pm. This is what flooded the areas like Lake view, the Super dome, and downtown New Orleans(where most of the horrible scenes we saw were from0. That occurred that night. It was not clear how bad the situation was at first. But it was all over the one NEw Orleans radio station and Nola.com around midnight If I remember that this wasnt topping of some levee but a good gosh honest hole in the flood wall. Also One of the cable networks was taking a urgent call from the Administrator at Tulane Hospital that was really raising the alarm bells. That I think happened around 12 00 also. At that point though the size and gravity of how big that hole was still not determined.
I live in Ohio now so NO is an hour behind me. If I remember correctly I believe it was near 6 o'clock Sunday when I heard them mention it. The Night your talking about is Sunday right? I'd love to get the Fox feed I saw.
YEah that correct. I mean at that time we were getting the first photos of helicopter rescues. Even though much of what we were seeing was in neighboring St bernard PArish. That is right by the ninth ward. So we knew there was a problem at 5pm. Again alot of this comes down to semantics. THe levees at that point were def topped. I saw pictures of Water at the roof of Walmart just after it occured in St BErnard. Of course that affected NEw ORleans East as well. But that mostly came out of what was described as this incredible20 foot wall of water coming out of LAke Bornge. When it was done it was sort of done.
THe second happening which was a breach(of a floodwall not a leveee) occureed that night and continued to cause confusion untill the wee hours. This was what caused the continious flooding until it was able to be repaired. BUt yes at think at 5 pm it was apparent that areas outside Canal, the Quarter, Downtown, uptown, LAke view areas were in significant trouble. Whether one calls it a topping or a breach.
Dick Cheney shot the levees.
I tried searching through FR for the live threads but couldn't get back that far. What's up with that? One of the FR missions was to keep articles archived to catch the left in compromising situations. Has that changed? Is the search function time limited, or am I just having another senior moment?

I guess your mind works in mysterious ways...
I saw that on Wikipedia. To search older threads you need to look through archives.
Has the makings of a great tagline.
And Halliburton paid him to do it.
