As a script, that is an idea I could definitely see a studio going for. It has the perfect ingredients for a good intrigue/thriller.

So how do today's new writers finally make it? I'm a book junkie and I'm always hitting up Barnes & Noble for books every month (I read 365 days of the year). I see new authors all the time pop up. How do they get their books published?
To: Rca2000
Hmmm... Sounds intriguing. Do you read Netforce?
To: Rca2000
Well, entering a contest isn't the same as pitching. You just enter it and see what happens...although even if you don't win, someone important may still read your script and like it...it gets you some exposure, which is definitely good.
With pitching, you have to personally try to convince the studios to buy your script, which is obviously not an easy thing to do.

Most first-time novelists have already made it in the nonfiction world, so they're experienced, published authors already. Editors have FAR less of a risk to take in cases like that. The novel world is all about name recognition.

I guess thay are too consumed with "Fudgepack mounting" and "TransAmerica", and "Failure to Launch", and other such trash, to notice somethig like this.

Yeah, but once upon a time, they were just starting out. Right? How does a successful writing go from zero to published?
To: pcottraux
I've been hoping (and praying) that something like that would happen........that I would get a call or Email, that someone read my script, and was interested in it.
But alas......... "Fooled again".

Well, I was talking about fiction novels, and how hard it is to get into that.
Nonfiction is a whole nother ballgame. That's where the successful book writer starts. It's funny about the book industry: I mentioned that 3,500 of 50,000 new books published each year are novels. THat means 46,500 new books are nonfiction, and almost ALL of them are written by ordinary people who are first-time writers. The book industry is dominated by ordinary schlubs. THe collective sales of nonfiction books far eclips even Stephen King's sales.

It will happen, if you keep trying.
THat's actually one of the things that kills most first-time writers. All writers are rejected numerous times before they're accepted. Even experienced ones who dominate the industry.
To get yourself sold, you're going to have to toughen up to rejection. You're going to be turned down numerous times before someone buys. It happens to everyone.
The "Chicken Soup for the Soul" book was actually turned down over 140 times before finally being picked up. And what do you know? It's one of the biggest best-sellers in history.

I am pooping out. Time for beddie by for me. I must be getting OLD or something. Gone are the days of staying up all night for fun. Had to do it for work many times, but I was getting PAID to stay awake.

Actually, I think they would be far more interested in your stuff. The film industry is just that...an industry. It revolves around action/intrigue and adventure. The dramas mostly come out around Oscar season, and they are primarily box-office bombs. They only exist for the awards, which equals publicity for the studio (and gives the liberals in the industry to pat themselves on the back).
The Oscars season and all the dramas that come beforehand are only made by filmmakers with years of experience who can afford the financial loss. Hollywood's target audience is males between the ages of 18 and 40.

I personally think my script could be a BIG hit....It has a bit of everything for everyone.. Action, drama, hi-tech, and Sci-fi, and there are placed where the audience will be standing up cheering, and others where there probably will not be a dry eye in the house.(I would say there a re 1 or 2 scenes that will make the reaction to "Titanic" look pale in comparison), and it will keep EVERYOPNE in suspense about the fate of the Earth, till nearly the last minutes!!
You are probably too young to remember, but about 20 or so years ago, there was a commercial , probably by the NAACP or such. It went something like this::
You know, I don't have time, for messing around with all of this stuff. I've got buildings to build, projects to complete...but you..You come here and you tell me you know how to do construction and such. Next thing I know, I got things going more smoothly than ever, and projects being completed ahead of time. Congratulations, your the new foremen!!
(Black guy, to manager):,( Happily)
"All I ever needed was a chance!!"
That's kind of how I feel, about my script. All it needs is a chance. Whoever gives it that chance is NOPT going to be disappointed, I believe.
