In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
scion \SY-uhn\, noun
1. A detached shoot or twig of a plant used for grafting.
2. Hence, a descendant; an heir.
Example sentence:
Convinced he was the scion of Louis Alexandre Lebris de Kerouac, a noble Breton, he was off to do genealogical research in the Paris libraries and then to locate his ancestor's hometown in Brittany.
-- Ellis Amburn, Subterranean Kerouac
Etymology: Scion derives from Old French cion, of Germanic origin.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
well, be sure to give that Norah O'Donnnel wide eyed look up during. ;)
You're right, for some reason I didn't have you on my ping list. I'll put you there right now. A for today's post!
and i just made sure you were on the ping list on the home computer so that your delicate sensibilities are never again offended by the AMISH SHUN that we were doing of you in WFTD : )
i just ordered pizza from Papa Johns online. i feel very daring as if i am living on the edge. i wonder if it will work?
We had pizza last night. GMTA!
we have confirmation practice tonight PLUS i got enough so that they can have leftover cheese pizza as a lenten lunch. i am SOOOOO cagey ; )
Thank you!
It's more difficult to imagine the scion of this, ahem, union.
Yum-pizza! I'll be eating leftovers tonight because I'm making sausage and (gag!) sauerkraut for hubby, and as y'all know, I can't even stand the smell of the wretched stuff.
The radio in the kitchen was on for the third day in a row when I got home-and I do not turn it on in the morning. I don't see how the dog or cats could turn it on-the buttons are on the side, not the top, but I suppose it is possible. It is either that, or the spooks have developed a taste for country music, which is what is was set on.
I don't know which is stanger.......a dog or cat who likes country music......or a ghost.
--stranger.
I have to claim maurice hinchey.....the same "catholic" who brought hillary into a Catholic church for a campaign stop..........
Jim Moran is local but not mine, thank God. he represents the earthwatchers of falls church and i am sure they support his baby murdering views.
Thanks. That was great.
The whole lot should be excommunicated.
I notice Dennis Kooky Kucinich was missing from the list, maybe he now considers himself the member of some earth worshipping vegan cult now.
Too bad we don't have a list of the senators too. And they could include those who claim to be orthodox Jews(are you listening Lieberman?).
She's a plain one, isn't she? Homely, just like the Carter scions. And please folks, no pictures. A+ dubs.
