Have you tried using static IPs?

I just looked at the router setup page and it appears that there is a way to force a static IP to the router ports, but it doesn't look easy. If I have another problem, I'll take a shot at it. If I botch the job the router's setup page has a "reset to default values" button.

Did you only turn off the DHCP function of your router, or did you also change your network settings on each PC to have a static IP? Just making sure I didn't steer you off a cliff :)

DHCP is enabled. I went to the "Fixed mapping" tab on the DHCP page and copied my MAC address and IP address into the section labeled "ID #1". I then selected "save" and was prompted to reboot the router, which I did.

That sounds perfect. I didn't realize that some routers' DHCP servers allowed you to force particular IP addresses on specified MAC addresses. That's an interesting alternative to changing the TCP/IP settings on each machine from dynamic to static. What router are you using?

This is the main "folding" thread and we will be glad to help you. In addittion to what FreeAtlanta suggested, if you have a red "flower" in the lower right hand of your screen, RIGHT click on it. Go to "configure" and in the box for team name put in "36120"

It's a very inexpensive US Robotics model 8003.

I now have my two desktops configured on fixed IP addresses .100 and .101. DHCP is enabled with an IP pool range of .102 to .199 for anything else we occasionally connect to the network. (Laptops, XBOX, PS2)

It was a lot easier then I thought it was going to be, I have rebooted the router several times and it appears to be working.

Sweet! That should definitely take care of any IP conflict issues.

My D-Link DI-624 Router (also a low $ unit) will also let you assign a particular IP to a given MAC address while using DHCP for the remaining users. One of my machines is a server on the net and I need a fixed IP on that machine so incoming requests go to the right place.

I don't very much about routers, but I think most routers would need some way to handle this situation.

I haven't had SCSF's problem because my router always assigns the same IP to a computer anyway. I only had to force the fixed address when I replaced the network card and the router thought it was a new computer.

FWIW, I've also learned I can do he same with Comcast for the IP they assign me, which is normally always the same. If I ever need a new IP address for some reason, all I have to do is program my router for a new MAC address and Comcast assigns a new IP. However, if the modem MAC address changes, I have to call their office to get it recognized, but not for a router change.

I broke into the top 100! I have 5360 points!

What is amazing is that yesterday, I broke 5000 points and ended up sitting at 101. Had I had 5k a week ago, I would have automatically been in the top 100 of our team.

We have over 100 team members with 5,000 points!!! I look forward to when it will take 10,000 points to get into our top 100.

I mentioned this before but it bears repeating. Using myself (craigon69) as an example, I was getting 600-800 point Double Gromacs for several weeks which took my 4 main folding boards a tad over a day to compete. About a week ago those Double Gromacs stopped being distributed, and I now get 140-225 pointers distributed. They too take about the same amount of time (a day) to complete. I suspect most other people have had the same slow down as I due to the lack of QMD or Double Gromacs lately.
