You have already admitted you have a wifi card, which is a more difficult situation. You already said you tried it on your laptop and it didn't find the card. Why are you pulling it out again? Do you think the internet spirits will be kinder this time? That sounds like the Homer Simpson approach to networking. You know, I bet if you throw the cd back in your drawer and pull it out three months from now (fanfare and drumroll.....) it STILL won't see and install your card! Zowie! However, there ARE drivers for the card, btw... You want em, I will show you where they are. You sound like a whiner with a point to make, though.
By the way Windows XP on my laptop did NOT see and install drivers for my Linksys (how much more common a card do you need) pcmcia wireless. Mepis, however, did, although I dunno if it would for your laptop/card. However, since it won't run photoshop on that blazing display of color you have there on that thinkpad, what good would it do you? Better to stick with windows, where you can devote half your resources to guard you from drive by downloads and scripts run by Nigerians who have died and left you a fortune. Stick with windows. Everybody uses it and Linux is so HARD and has no apps. Everybody knows that.
YOu must have odd hardware I have not done A linux install in teh past four years that required any intervention getting on the net..
