This sort of thing has happened from time to time through the earth’s history and most recently in the early 1990’s when the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines in 1991 cooled global temperatures in 1992 by around half a degree.

Interesting. The Global Warming Mongers tell us that a half-degree rise in global temperatures will spell doom for the planet, yet a half-degree decrease in '92 resulted in.....well, nothing that I can think of.

The summer of 1816 was when Mary Shelley came up with the story of Frankenstein. She and her husband were on vacation with another male friend. It was too cold to go out, so they entertained each other by telling stories. Guess all that volcanic ash is good for the imagination!
