The Hobbit Hole XXVIII - Through shadows to the edge of night
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 02/24/2006 9:52:11 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Through shadows to the edge of night

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Too bad pets don't have a toggle switch for weekend mode...

Mine were up at not much after six. Oh well...guess it gives me more day to work with.

I'm here in da hotel, getting ready to head to the airport and home...

[yawn]

Late night last night. The whole group (about a hundred of us) went out for dinner and a show. Saw Beach Blanket Babylon, and ate at Washington Square. Both were good... wierd, but good...

Hi Sam!

I keep going back to Dell for my own computers. I've had good experiences with 'em. Every company has occasional issues with quality or support, and they're no different, but overall they're still the big dog.

The overseas support they tried hasn't worked out so well, and more of their support is coming back stateside.

I sure wish we'd had a chance to get together during my visit! Time and tide conspired against us... but I know there will be future trips.

I'm not sure if I should be flattered or spooked that when I came out from taking my shower, they were all three sitting in the hallway staring intently at the doorway.

Morning OT, I like daylight savings time; that means the clock in the truck is correct again. Yessss.

You know...there are other ways to fix that. ;-)

I *finally* fixed the clock in the van. What with being three hours away from Vermont and also in the other half of the year, it was getting a little ridiculous.

DUDE! We have Dells, and haven't really had any problems. SirKit got one of their laptops a couple of years ago, with a HUGH screen for watching DVD's, and also because it's easier to read than the tiny screens. We brought it with us to Entmoot, and watched movies on it on the trip down on the train.

We're gonna be looking for another one for Clare before she heads down your way for school.
