Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Through shadows to the edge of night
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Oops, beat myself to it. That is the risk with high speed multi-window spamming isn't it Precious?
To: Overtaxed
I like the good frozen stuff better than what I can make myself. Pizza Hut is better still, but there's a store brand I found at a chain here that's almost as good and costs 3.50 a pie.

G'mornin. Triple whammy day... Friday ~and~ payday ~and~ frappe Friday (boss buys coffee for everyone in the office). Woohoo!Quadruple whammy here. Friday (that's worldwide), payday, .... aaaaannnnnnddddd .....
Price cuts from Camillus!
They have decided to lower their prices on the Becker BK2 and BK3. $12 off our price for a BK2 "Campanion" and a whopping $23 off the BK3 "Tactool". This buys us a lot more bang for the buck, especially the BK3, which has a fanatical devotion among infantry and medics.
And the really big news....
I now have the new, just-announced (I had to keep mum for six months) Camillus 18-Xray tactical switchblade. This is not cheap (MSRP $270), but is among the best practical switchblades for military use.

Along with quality, heavy-duty construction (most foreign switchblades are just cheap novelties), it has a unique single-button safety/release button. The blade cannot be opened or closed unless the button is pushed forward against spring pressure, which then pops back, locking the blade, and the button.
There are federal hoops that have to be jumped through (active-duty-only, signed statement that you are authorized to carry), and, due the high cost, a request that the Soldier pay a modest amount of the cost.
Now I have to find the "knives for troops" thread, and post the good news there, too.

Sounds good winmag! Don't get outta control on us.... you can go just as broke on bargains as you can paying full price, but we'll likely be sending another donation soon.

Hmm, can't do it two weeks from today, since I have that off anyway? I'll check and see how much vacation time I have available.

Just checked, and I do have plenty of time available. Got 5+ days of vacation, 3+ sick days, and 2 floating holidays (although those have to be requested two weeks in advance).

We were out diggin' Rosie's last hole and we got chased inside by a little passing thunderstorm. Homer's trying to crawl in my lap and Gidget's out growling and barking at it.

Where does Cisco fall on the scale between Homer and Gidget?
Mmm. Wine chilling. Pizza in the freezer. Fun music on. Homework hidden in a corner for tomorrow. It's *so* Friday evening.

Cisco doesn't like being actually *out* in it...at least he kept blinking his eyes and complaining and was very happy to get indoors.
But now he's in, he's sacked out flat on the ground and doesn't seem all that concerned...so I guess he's somewhere in the middle. ;-)
To: RosieCotton
Big hairy dogs look so sad when they get wet, I don't blame him.

Especially big hairy dogs with baby faces.
In his case, he seems to have enough lab in his mix that water just beads up on his coat for the most part, so he has no real reason to complain. And I suspect he'd enjoy swimming, given the chance. But I guess rain is different.

Surprisingly enough, most were. Glad to hear you're legal. It's pizza night tonight, complete with ginger beer. hmmmm.
Gypsygirl is all walked, she really didn't enjoy the weather yesterday.
btw Did you notice dust and dirt on your car this morning?
The weatherguy on the radio said it was from the dust blowing up from TX and OK. Guess we ended up with some of 2J's topsoil.
