Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Through shadows to the edge of night
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Can we go home now?
We're supposed to have a "decompression session" at a local eatery at 1730.....I want to go home at 1530.

It's either drinks or a meal. I guess meal. We don't really do "go out to the bar" around here. At least not that I know of.

Today's gardening questions:
1) Luke wants to grow watermelon. Anybody have experience? Can I either put em in a (big ol') pot or do 'em in the sq. ft. garden? I'm not sure I have enough sunny space other wise.
2) I need to move 2 hydrangea (or in Nana's terms "high geraniums") and two small lilac plants. What's my best timing to do so?
Discuss.

Watermelons need to grow along the ground, just like squash. I can't see how they'd grow well in a pot.
I'm lost when it comes to flowers, so I'll let the others answer that.

Yeah, I'm thinking a pot won't work either. I'm also thinking I need to ~extend~ the width of the dry stream bed garden.

The watermelons are going to send vines out all over the place...so if you don't mind that, you're all set! Back home we had them volunteer all over the place and they seemed to do okay with their vines growing amongst the other plants. I guess you'd call that "filtered sunlight."
Mmmmm....watermelon.
I don't have any 'sperience with hydrangea and lilac, but I expect you can move them in the spring around planting time. The idea is to get their roots settled before summer heat gets them.

...only I want to stop at Home Depot and come home to wrestle with the kitchen faucet this evening.
To: Lil'freeper
Yay!
It's been a really, really, really long week.

Yeah, same here. Not sure why... It was not even ajacent to a moot. Those are usually the really long ones.
Need tea...
To: TalonDJ
Sigh. We've got a long time until the next moot...
Oh well, today is payday. I can go to Wal-mart. I'm out of caffeine and shampoo and pretty much out of food too.
