Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Through shadows to the edge of night
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

That doesn't guarantee others will do the same. :-(
Another hurdle to get past - driving on a busy interstate during less than perfect conditions. Good for me, right?

Is it sticking to the roads much? The back roads might have some, but the freeways are usually clear unless its a really heavy snowfall. Watch those bridges, though.

Usually, if it snows, everything slows down and no one's in a hurry. Don't let anyone pressure you, go whatever speed you want.

The perky weather babe on NWCN just said "We're getting snow even though it wasn't predicted, and the winds remain gusty even though the wind advisory has expired!"
She said it like she was taking it up with God.

Good advice. I don't even look in my rear-view mirror if I'm not backing up. I figure who ever is behind me can just deal with it or blow it out their shorts.
The other day Steve pulled over into a lane of traffic and was so worried about not slowing the guy down behind him, looking at the guy in the rear-view mirror, that he almost ran into the guy in front of him!

yeah... cruised around the traffic cams.... looks OK.
Nothing much in GH or up north yet. Weatherunderground shows snow tommorrow in both GH and Bellevue though, and saturday too.
Interesting. Might get to test that Jeep in the snow after all...

And that dead tree...it's not a tree at all, you know...it's the branch of that old pear tree that split a couple of years back. We just stuck it in the ground like that and we've grown stuff like cukes up it! LOL!
We like to call it a garden ornament.

I'm like Steve, though - I worry about that. I've gotten MUCH better about it, but I'm always nervous about making turns because of people behind me and all.
I don't think it's that bad out there except visibility wise. But I'll still give myself extra time.

The main roads like Littlerock and Black Lake are just wet, but Trosper was pretty slushy. Looks like it's tapering off here, though.

Thanks, Suzi! I'm realllly hoping the new job comes through, though even now it's not a sure shot. And no matter how unpleasant the leave taking ends up being, it'll be in the past soon enough. But it's gonna be painful for the present.
