Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Through shadows to the edge of night
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

We just got finished watching the movie version of Phantom of the Opera. Did you know that Gerard Butler could sing like that? Looks AND a voice? *fanning myself*

It's a direct hire, no contracting, with benefits off the bat, in a field closer to programming, with a company that will always make money --- they manufacture gambling machines.Let me know if you find any back doors.
Seriesly, congrats on the surfeit of job offers.

Good Morning ~ sip ~
A bit breezy, a bit chilly, a bit a sun. Looks good so far. Will be going into ~ town ~ today. Got a few things on the agenda. LSA has been watering the gardens and things are dry. Warm weather and no real precip has been pleasant but doesn't bode well for green, growy type things later on.

*grumble* *grumble* *grumble*
It appears that someone stole two storm winders I had sittin' out back and hadn't got back on yet. They needed to be painted and one had a broken pane. Don't know when they disappeared. They were here last weekend. I s'pose with my luck it's too much to hope that someone took 'em to repair 'em and put 'em up for me.
Luke's got his first swim lesson this a.m. Then we're goin' to Lowe's to get some compost for the front flower beds.
Looks to be the first day in several weeks that's actually fit fer workin' in theyard.

Morning Corin - if'n I had to guess, I bet it was the repair crew cleaning up; they probably thought they were doing you a favor and saving you a trip to the landfill.
To: Overtaxed
Yup, soaker hoses are our friends these days; I think the highlander is going to get a wash as well.
To: Corin Stormhands
Yup, that's a sad turn of events there. Local talkshow host was of the opinion that the parents should pay for the zoo to get a new pair of bears; the child is too young to know he's responsible for the bears being killed but the parents should be held liable.

I found KTMA episodes of MST3K....looks like videotape of a bad aerial reception...

vey cool! I have never seen any, but to my understanding that's about all that survives of the KTMA episodes... depending on the generation of duplication, some are more watchable than others.

'Morning!
Gonna head out to the Great Temple of Capitalism* to look at seeds. They often sell budget packets with fewer seeds in them - much preferable to paying what Burpee charges for more seeds than I'll ever use. I'll start my transplants in a couple weeks.
Then it's to the carwash, then we're taking the inlaws to see The Pink Panther. We're hoping it doesn't turn out to be a giant stinker like The New World which was the last movie we took them to see.
*aka Walmart.

I beleive there's about 24 of them. I'm downloading the second 12. Most of them were redone on the Comedy channel versions. Right now I'm watching the Gamera series. Not as many jokes in the KTMA version, and Joel has long(er) hair.

Good morning all... soft soaking rain and gentle thunderstorms here, just what we need to break the drought. Hope it lasts for a while!
To: Corin Stormhands
I've seen people do some bizarre things... but that was inexplicable.
Good morning.

Corin - What a sad cartoon. Those poor bears. Killed for being ~bears~. *shakes head* :-(

I thought about that, but I've got almost another truck load o'crap that's obviously for the landfill.
That and one of these was out by a tree and had fallen over. They left broken glass. They had to work to get to the other one.

I've seen people do some bizarre things... but that was inexplicable. Agreed.
Local columnist here said it wouldn't have been ~that~ invasive to just give the boy the shots and monitor the bears.
I know they're ~just bears~ and human life takes priority.
But this was a dumb-ass decision. And heads will roll.

In other news, Nana is pissin' me off this mornin'...yes, I know she's old, just let me vent...
She still hasn't said "good morning" or "hello" to me, but she ~has~ said.
"I need my prescriptions picked up on Monday." and "Did ~Valerie~ leave a check to get my hair cut?"
The first one is easy enough. The second implied that she was expecting me to take her to get a haircut. Being asked would have been nice.
The last one isn't her fault, but I just paid an outstanding hospital bill (for Nana) that the wife hadn't paid. That said, I'm in the process of taking over all of Nana's financial matters.
