Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Through shadows to the edge of night
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Called him. I'm going to call him when I get home tonight, but he's willing to bring it up here, so long as we can help with the unloading.
So...there's that.
I guess I should go to an ATM after work and get cash for him. Means going up north agin...*sigh* I need to get a new bank account eventually.
To: RosieCotton
Oh - that's very cool! ecurbh will be home by 5... Will he have a dolly then? Wonder how many more muscles we need.

I've had great luck with Whirlpool appliances.
They last a long time with little problems.

Durn...I didn't think to ask him about a dolly.
We'll need one to move the current fridge anyway, won't we? What's it cost to rent one of those? And would Rent-a-center have 'em? There's that one next door to where I work...
To: RMDupree
It sounds like it just doesn't match the decor or sumpin. Probably got all stainless steel or like that.
Cold milk - yay!
To: RosieCotton
We need one ~less~ to move the old one, because we don't care how the old one is carried. Rent-A-Centers would have them but wait and see if he's bringing one first.

What you think I would use you just to get near the Precious? Baseless and shocking accusations! /shocked. under the 3 day mark. Less if you count from when you are leaving.
To: HairOfTheDog
Wow... I'm still getting weird power fluctuations. Lights is a-flickerin'. My ac adapter keeps flipping on and off. Sometimes running off battery, sometimes charging.
I'm guessing they patched together some kind of duct tape and bailing-wire workaround... but they're not quite getting enough voltage to drive everything at once.

That's pretty common. When we redid the kitchen at my house, we donated the old fridge since we decided to go with all black appliances.
Plus, we wanted a side-by-side fridge with ice and water in the door.
The one we gave away was over 15 years old, but worked perfectly. Whirlpool makes a great product.

We should at least be able to scoot the old one out of the way, I'd think, if it comes to that.
I'm ridiculously excited about getting a new one!
To: RosieCotton
Oh - we can get the old one out... That's a lot easier than getting the new one in. Gravity's on our side :~D

I know your priorities... you don't miss a shot at the Precious. I can't wait. Was thinking about how I have to pack and print off maps tomorrow.

Have the latest Amazing Race to watch this evening...
It's sad that soooo many folks are already horribly annoying, even this early in the season. I like the nerds and I like BJ and Tyler just 'cause they're goofy and sooo thrilled by everything. And the black couple seem OK, at least - they aren't obnoxious. But the rest? Yikes.
Hopefully this week the older couple won't walk past clue boxes half a dozen times. *shakes head*
To: HairOfTheDog
I suppose they should. Though, honestly, it hasn't been a big deal at all. Just a curiousity. Other than having to walk around with a flashlight, it hasn't affected me much at all.
It's not like they'd be comping *me* anyway...

I wonder...maybe I could call the guy after I leave the bank and before I get home, so it wouldn't be *quite* so late when he came. Otherwise, I won't even be getting in touch with him until after six.
Of course, maybe not everyone feels as though they can't start any task after dinner. For me, if I don't get things done in the morning, I feel like the day is over.
