Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Through shadows to the edge of night
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Don't fret! Maybe you have more experience than the other person... if they want someone to do support/installation, they probably don't want someone with software development skills. Someone like that is going to be looking for a position that will polish those skills, they won't stick around a support place long.

Stop fretting, tell them you'd enjoy working there - sound hopeful! Let them hire you because they fear breaking your heart, you're looking forward to it so much ;~D
Heh... I'm mostly exaggerating cuz I'm in a weird mood...
What are you up to over there? Thinking of starting your 24s or do you want to come over later for more South Park?

They want someone who will be eventually able to help with development. Granted, it's more database management than actual programming since they use Domino as a base, but it's still not something I've done.
Still, I was up front about that and still made it this far, so maybe they're willing to train me.

Eating dinner (leftovers from lunch yesterday that were in my fridge...I heated them really hot on the stove so hopefully won't get poisoned or nothin'...) and then...I don't know. I haven't started the 24s yet. Wouldn't mind coming over for a bit, though, after I eat.
I rather miss the monsters et al. It's awfully quiet over here now that the cats have finished telling me the sad story of their day.
To: RosieCotton
Monsters et al, we got! OK - we'll see you in a bit...

Isn't he though? I find looking at pics of baby animals helps improve my mood...

Just got off the phone with Ramius.
His hotel has no power, so he'll be offline tonight. :-(
Apparently the hotel has some construction going on inside and someone messed with something they shouldn't have messed with.
I hope it comes back on soon! No hot water, no TV, nothing.

Gol-dang it!
Well, he is getting a refund, right? And they're gonna comp him the room tonight, right?
And they ought to throw in a fifth of Turkey, just 'cause ...

He didn't mention anything of the sort. I guess he figures it'll back back on before too long.
hehehehe...we're different in that I'd already be calling a hotel down the street and booking a room there. I'm not paying to stay in a room with no power.
I can do that at home every hurricane season. :-/

Good grief! I wouldn't expect that at a hotel... Is the bar open?

Men are too easy-going.
I would ask for all that stuff. What are they gonna do ... say, "No, you have to pay to stay in my hot, dark, electricity-less hotel, where the doors don't lock 'cause they all have electric locks, where there's no ice for my bourbon, or hot water, or broadband access for my computer."

Yes, but with no power I imagine they're only serving bottled beer and non-iced drinks.
He was feeling slightly lousy today and I was hoping he could go to bed early after an Alka-Seltzer shot.
When we talked earlier he was sitting by the pool, but he was going to head up to his room and watch a movie on the portable DVD player. Maybe he'll fall asleep out of sheer boredom. :-D

hehehe...I hear ya!
They must have a generator to power the emergency lighting at least. Oh! He mentioned they had ~one~ elevator working.
*rolls eyes*
I'd be so outta there. Although his description of the lobby being lit by a hundred candles did sound romantic.

Shake and Bake.
OK, that was bad of me. I'm going to bed now.
To: Corin Stormhands
Now why on earth would you do that to me?
