Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Through shadows to the edge of night
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Need to get raised bed #1 in shape to plant something this weekend. I want to plant peas, but I'm squirrel paranoid. I'm afraid they'll dig 'em up. Need to get some turnips and collards planted.

We've got walkie talkies we can talk on :~D
First night in her new place, no sign of her awakening yet... I wonder if she has an alarm clock :~D

I'm gonna try out the grinder, I think. Now to test out the shower...and then check if the milk is cold.
Just talked to Margaret for awhile. There are some benefits to being in a different time zone - at this end of the day, in any case.

I wonder if she has an alarm clock :~D Don't she have two?

We put builder's sand on top of the tulip bulbs when we planted them. The~experts~claimed that the squirrels wouldn't dig up the bulbs because the sand cut into their little paws, and sure enough, the bulbs survived just fine. Do you think putting a couple of inches of sand on top of your plants might keep the tree rats out of them?

I was singing that earlier. Gotta get it out of my head.
Putting on some Fleetwood Mac now to gear up for today. My payroll partner is out sick, so I've got lots to do on what was supposed to be a relatively easy day. :-P

I could try it. Heck, I'll try anything. Last year they dug in stuff they didn't eat. All my onions would be dug up and scattered all over the place. Then I'd start cussin': "Well if you're going to dig them up, why don't you eat the damned things, stupid rats!"

Just having my first cup of coffee...it's after 9am! I was hoping to sit out on the porch to drink it but it's just a bit too cool...only about 50 degrees. supposed to get up to the 70s today, though...lovely!

I had a spinach and asparagus omelet for breakfast over the weekend...from our own garden! And a little salad of radishes for lunch! Was this on purpose? ...or some kind of accident? ... or a desperate cry for help? :-)

Oh, it was heavenly.
Hey, did you know that asparagus makes your urine stink? But the thing is, only 1% of the population has the genetics needed to smell it!

They actually slept in, but I didn't.
They were tearing around like maniacs last night, so that probably contributed. "Ooooh...look at all this *space*!!! Watch how fast I can cover all this *space*!!!"
