The Hobbit Hole XXVIII - Through shadows to the edge of night
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 02/24/2006 9:52:11 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Through shadows to the edge of night

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I hope the plans for that are going smoothly.

So far, so good. Still have to set up the shipping of my car and the stuff I'm taking with me.

It looks as though the HH compound is forming in Washington.

Well, a portion of the compound at least. :-)

Enjoy your day too, chica.

Becky's still snoozing, so all is quiet here. Very nice change of pace from weekday mornings.

Musta been in the catnip....

Catnip is already up out in the garden. Am setting up the sewing room today for seed starting. Placed the Burpee order just now. These folks focus on the kitchen garden. I bought one of their lettuce mixes. The illustrations in the catalog are just as charming as can be.

Morning, glad a bit of this wonderful rain has made it to Dogwood Ridge.

I'm sure LSA will be happy to share the recipe. She just read your post and said 'Sure'. She will send 'em on when we get back from ~ town~.

Piano tuning, well, I'd recommend g'nad wear his shooting ear protectors.

Wow! You're writing?? Congratulations!!!

Now that my job hunt is (sorta) resolved, I'm feeling the need to write again.

I don't really have time to do so, of course ... but I woke up this morning with an idea ...!

Forgive me for being nosey ... but what'cha writin'?

The job isn't bad at all, except for the boss thing, and the fact that I am itching to reorganize the whole place...it's kind of a mess right now, though part of that was just because they'd gotten backlogged, not having an extra tech.

I think I'm going to get in big trouble next week, though. The boss guy wants us to document our time in ten minute increments (how's that for micromanaging?), and I ran out of the timesheets halfway through the week and didn't get new ones, though I asked for 'em. So I'll probably get chewed out for the first time. But really...how ridiculous is that? And I've done a darned good job, if you ask me! So...we'll see.

I get my first paycheck on Monday. It's only for three days, and I'm not getting paid much at the moment, but it's something!

Still have a phone interview and a followup interview this coming week. I doubt the phone one will go anywhere, but the followup could lead to something... I also should hear back on the job I interviewed for yesterday, but I was sooo flaky yesterday, I doubt it'll be anything but a "Thanks for coming by". Another one of those times when I couldn't put a coherant thought together, and kept forgetting what I was saying. Ungh.

Am glad to hear the job situation is doing well - I hope it continues to do so!!

Im not writing what I SHOULD be writing...writing what I said I was going to write a year ago....Im writing fanfiction.... but I fell in with some really cool and nice people on a Yahoo group and well...it derailed me. ROFL But this was such a fun group of people I couldnt resist.

Trouble is, I am caught up in several plot lines now, and cant get my mind off it LOL - but Im doing well in developing some characters and learning how to work out plotlines, which is a lot better than what I had before. I have all sorts of plot bunnies pop up now...and I owe that in large part to being able to chat with others about what could happen and there are some people who I have set up my story as a remora to theirs....its twisted I know, but like I said, Im actually getting the concept of plot now, whereas before I was floundering....

Not nosy at all - thank you for the chance to "promote" it LOL LOL!!!

If you like Ive archived what Ive written in LiveJournal - before you read the segments under the title "all the earth keep silence" read "About the Point" first - it will help clear some confusion and introduce the premise. its essentially an alternative universe, but I got so intrigued with the concept ( ie. what happens to characters in a movie when the movie is done, and how those characters can grow and develope on their own) that Ive been having a ball writing for it. Its still pretty hagard in places, but....well, I hope it is something you enjoy.

Catnip...

Ben got into the catnip and made one heck of a mess. We have catnip all over the carpet in our bedroom. Ben keeps returning to the scene of the crime to roll in it (before it gets vaccuumed). The twins, Lily and Lucy, don't know about catnip much... yet.
