The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

It's funny to watch them react to normal things for the first time :~D

I do hope ecurbh and I can breed one someday, so we he can see that... It's so much fun!

Find yourself a nice Kiger Mustang stud for Cyn. They're supposed to be REALLY nice, sound horses.

Heh... after I posted that, I was thinking of breeding her, as we often have, but I've never really settled on what type of stud would be best for her. I'd love to pass on her feet, and her sound trail temperament, but I'd want to match her with something that has more bulk than she has. A quarter horse would give her baby some bulk and would be a good choice for trail horse, but unregisterable. A nice big Polish Arab of Bay's size would be good, and registerable...

I'm just wondering, if we are breeding for us, if we care too much about registration or breed... A 3/4 Arab baby is a pretty choice.... or an Arab/mustang/quarter cross might be the perfect trail horse... or might just come out like a true mutt, with no defining characteristics of ~any~ of those lines. A Kiger I hadn't considered, but might be a good choice too... though they aren't very big.

Well, you'd definately get good feet from a Kiger, and they appear to have quite a bit of substance. As for height, 15 hands isn't too terribly small. That's about what Cyn runs isn't it. Also, the older you get, the better shorter horses look. It might be nice for you to not have to hunt a stump every time you want to get off on the trail. ;o)

And if you're just breeding for you (and I'm sure that baby would never leave your place once you raised it), then the registerability is unimportant. You don't care anything about showing anymore, so a good, sound, sane trail horse is all you need.

Heh... well that's a fact :~D

I like a big horse, but it ain't getting any easier to get on 'em :~D

There's a lot of Kigers around here.. there's a stallion around here somewhere, that I've seen in exhibitions, named "Kiger Tiger". Most of the Kigers around here started with him, it seems like. I'd have to look at Cyn's papers again to make sure Cyn's mama wasn't one of them.

Line breeding can get you some spectacular results, as long as it's not too close.

Funny that you should mention diuretics. I'm pooped. I've had my blood drawn, pee tested, chest xray , ekg...and back on blood pressure medicine:'( She told me it was the lowest doseage but she told me since it would go up , he wouldn't do the surgery and this should cover me. She also told me women like this one because it has a diuretic added also . (rolling eyes)

got that from Mom. She recently had to be sedated before a few

C'mere. Let me slap you:')

Actually, that has been the problem. I just want lidocaine. I don't want conscience sedation. That stuff scares me. I don't want to be talking and not remember a word I said, when I "wake up". Besides that I have to get someone to go with me and it costs an extra 300 dollars. My dentist has agreed to try numbing first.
