The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I'd like to see a summertime pic of that same spot. I'll bet it's really different.

It's 5:45 in the morning, March 1, and I have the window open next to me. Supposed to be nearly 90 today.

Why are married women heavier than single women?

Single women come home, see what's in the fridge and go to bed. Married women come home, see what's in bed and go to the fridge.

I thought I'd just post some miscellaneous horse pics that my husband took on Sunday afternoon after I got back from taking a short ride on Bob. I hauled him a few miles over and was planning on riding him back to my in-law's place on some dirt roads but a friend's dogs started following me and wouldn't go back so I had to stop short of the highway and call my husband to come pick us up in the trailer because I just knew that as soon as I tried to cross that highway those dogs would get run over. Then I didn't know where to put the dogs. I couldn't put them in the 2-horse with Bob coz he might stomp them and I didn't want to put them in the car coz they were nasty so we just slowly drove back the way I'd come and they followed. The guy had to hold them when they got back home or they would've followed the trailer again. Goofy dogs! I think they enjoyed it, and I enjoyed having them there because they kept all the other dogs occupied and off of me and Bob.

But anyways, this was when I got back and had just got Bob out of the trailer and Hope and her sidekick Ellie were coming to investigate the trailer...

Then Hope has to get in to see if there's any grain left in there...

I have to make her get out so I can close the door...

Tennessee's just standing back taking it all in...

Then everybody's ready for supper...

And then I had some cute pics of the camera-hog cat. He seems to delight in finding new and interesting ways to get me to take his picture...

Those are great pictures, especially the cat pics! I guess you won't have any problems with trailering Hope!

The landing was easy, the fall hurt, I rolled off forward so I hit the horn, had a horrible bruise.

We slept all night with the front storm door propped open and the ceiling fans running. We're supposes to be in 87 today. I just got back from my morning walk, no coat, just a t shirt, and I'm sweating like a pig:)

Great pictures:). Horses can be sociable to a fault sometime if you're trying to do something with one and others are around loose:).

Love the cat:)

Heh... That's some gaggle of horses in the middle of everything :~D And cats. :~D

Sorry the ride didn't work with the dogs intervening. Glad you stopped and took them back, sounds like it would have been a bad scene.

Yeah, I have a heck of a time getting in the pasture gate with the trailer in tow when I have a horse on it. If I'm by myself, I usually just have to get the horse out of the trailer outside the fence, then turn him loose in the pasture so everybody will go off running and farting to the barn so I can drive through the gate without somebody getting out. The same applies when I'm trying to leave. I'll have to load up the horse I want, then put out some pans of grain on the ground at the barn to keep the ones left behind occupied long enough for me to get out the gate. Everybody wants to go when one of them goes. Sheesh!

Yes I am! It's a great series. I'm behind though. I haven't read "Fiery Cross" yet or "A Breath of Snow and Ashes" either, although I've got both. I've also got the other one she wrote, "Lord SomethingOrOther". Haven't read it either. I'm the worlds worst to buy books then not read them. I'll bet I've got almost 20 saved up. Having a DVR on the TV has really cut into my reading time.

Lord Gray. Some type of correspondence or journal, IIRC.

I finally caught up on the series at the end of last year. I'll re-read it a few times by the time the next book comes out. Rumor has it that it will be the last with Jamie and Clare.

~sigh~

I've posted a link in the Hobbit Hole to an Outlander tour in Scotland. They actually have a tour that goes to locations in the books. Most of the places would be where you'd visit anyway though. :-)
