Time for a new FreeRepublic folding@home thread.
While this folding@home team is not officially sanctioned by Free Republic, it's 250+ members comprised primarily of Free Republic members in good standing have banded together to donate their excess CPU cycles to a worthy cause. Via distributed computing, millions of computers around the world, contribute directly to scientific research, in the quest for a greater understanding of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Mad Cow (BSE).
Currently, the team is in 204th place, having reached more than 2,000,000 points!
This is an entirely voluntary program, and if you want to learn more, please see the links posted below (or read one of the previous 8 folding threads)
hmmm - beat me by 3 minutes - proves I'm a slower typer.
And your stats prove that my systems are a LOT slower, LOL.

You could try this: Open your laptop to about a 45 degree angle. Stand it up on it's side, cooling vents up.
"Snooze you loose around here...."
LOL - you got that right (and that's definitely not left, unless you talk about leaving the DUmmies behind in a cloud of FAH dust, heheh).
BTW, what do you think about the 1st skin I have ever made - the one for EM-3 shown in post # 60?
I worked hard on it so it would have our team logo, FR logo, & individual screen name displayed.
Let me know if you want the skin.ini. I'll post it along with the individual .jpg pics needed.

Way Kewl. (that's geek talk for niccceeeee)I'm green with envy that I didn't think of it first. And yes, a lot of us will want to rip it off but one of my 'puters is in my wife's office (borged it!) so I can't report on it. Like a zombie it just folds for me...
Another thought, looking ahead, is that is is remotely possible that we could pass SISD and (.Y.) on the same day. What a banner day that would be !!! LOL
< /DUmmie thought process>
ROFLMAO !!
That's a good idea. I will try it.
"...yes, a lot of us will want to rip it off ..."
OK - here's the necessary ingredients. First, find the default folder - should be " EM/skins/default " and copy it to a safe location. Then you can use the original default for the new skin, which is what I did. (You can also create a new folder in skins and name it FR and copy the files in the default into the new folder - don't forget to 'choose' the FR folder as your skin in the configure menu of FAH.)
The following assumes you will use the 'default' folder.
Contents of my FR skin.ini (copy & paste into notepad, save as [ skin.ini ] in the EM/skins/default folder - say yes to replacing file - you did make a backup copy first, right?)

Here's the images you will need. Right click on each image and choose "save picture as" from the pop-up menu and save it in the default folder.
For the next image, use MS Paint or other image editor to brush out my screen-name and then place a text box on the black bar & enter your own screen name.
This next image is used as background for where the protein is drawn and does'nt show well unless the protein is being drawn fast, but that slows down FAH - so I turned off drawing the protein in my skin & it now shows only a gray blank where it would have been. I can't get my image to show there, instead - but I'm working on it. The image is the right size.
Here's a link to the author's web page with explanation of the .ini file: Click here to see skin ini explained.
Hope you all enjoy this.

I always feel so unclean after I do that. I delouse my keyboard and mouse. And wipe down my monitor with industrial bleach. Take two showers. Gargle. Say 5 Hail Maries and I'm not Catholic. Run 2 virus checks on my 'puter. Hang garlic by my window.
What is KOS?
You rock!
However, to try to stay ahead of you, I hope to borg my sisters computer this week. :-) I also have some work to do on my sister-n-laws, she says I can borg hers, too. Neither are really powerful, but maybe they will makeup for my lost laptop time.
"You rock!"
LOL
Thanks. On occasion, I've also been known to roll - but alas, that was many years ago.

The 64k question. It's a compilation of commies, soviets and otherwise rejects of the old order.

You'll need a shower after.
